Totally understand, and yeah, it really does come down to personal preference.
Of all the Siege figures I own, the only ones I ever felt deserved fillers to look better were Magnus and Impactor. Even then, they were perfectly fine without them, but looked better with.

Does anybody know if Citadel paints work with Siege figures like Megs?

Depends on how you use them, as in if you prime an area or seal them once applied.
I use Citadel, Testors and Vallej

Would it work if I just painted it with the red base paint?

    So, regarding Astrotrain........
    4C40DB0F-CA33-4ED7-83F2-0A8C399812DA.jpeg
I kinda like the idea of him being the ‘John Wick’ of the Siege line. Having your own secret armory hidden in arguably the best (I will illustrate) Leader gimmick extras of the line is pretty badass. It’s an angle that I don’t think has ever been explored with Astrotrain, but I’m diggin’ it, along with everything else about this figure.

Just, WOW!!! Siege Astrotrain is simply AWESOME!!! His solid and sturdy design and engineering is a testament to how great this line is and is a great capper at the end of one the best lines of Transformers ever. Along with the rest of Wave 5, (except for Singe and Rung which I still need to acquire) Siege is definitely going out with a very enthusiastic bang!

This bot’s got some bulk to him. Aside from very minor gaps in the thighs and forearms, Astrotrain feels incredibly solid. In hand, you can just feel the heftiness of this very well-built figure. His blockiness actually allows for decent posing with a very well-balanced and stable frame. All this also makes for very nice and solid alt modes.

I don’t care what the haters say about the rear section, this still looks a helluva lot more like a space shuttle than that awkwardness from TR (which honestly I preferred as Sentinel Prime anyway......,YES EVEN IN THE BLINDINGLY SEARING ORANGE AND YELLOW....., *ahem* but I digress). I love the Astro portion of this bot’s namesake. I’ve always wanted an Astrotrain with cartoon colors and these look spot on. The blast damage I think is actually fitting in this case because I think this is what Astrotrain, or even a real shuttle, might look like upon re-entry into the atmosphere. Granted, there would be damage on the nose cone and side panels as well, but I get why it looks like this.

It’s not much, but I like the crawler/carrier mode for the extra bits. I like how everything can still be incorporated into the frame or on Astrotrain. No pieces left behind!!! It is a minor bummer that the front portion won’t lay flat (yes, I know there’s a fix for that), but I can deal with it in this configuration. But for the launchpad, I kinda did something different without having to mod the toy.
    C2BA03DA-D9F3-4269-849F-3823F6C7AF42.jpeg
Basically just flipped it over and plugged in the front pieces the same way. They don’t slot in all the way, but they friction in well enough to stay put and lay flat while the rest of the station is now slightly elevated, which I feel adds more depth to this configuration and I really love it. If you’re curious, the missile pod accessory is pegged underneath the shuttle platform which allows it to sit evenly and elevated. No pieces left behind!!! This is one of my favorite things about this toy.
    9C338A82-E814-4C6E-AD07-AD634A60CDAD.jpeg
This is classic!!! Once again, this looks like an actual, damn train compared to that TR weirdness. We’ve got actual rolling wheels, steam lines, a smokestack, a freakin’ window for the conductor to stick his head out of, etc. This is an actual freakin’ LO-CO-MO-TIVE!! Finally a train that resembles what his namesake should be. Seriously, aside from the color, this looks like something Marty and Doc would hijack. If it wasn’t clear, I love this train mode. And then they went and made it better!
    C370CB1F-1004-468D-BC4A-6FF091C7BB0B.jpeg
By adding a coal car! This is an excellent addition to the figure that actually makes sense for what the alt mode is (just like the shuttle mode, I forgot to mention). It matches the aesthetic and colors of the train nicely and is a perfect fit for this mode! Plus, you can still hide the weapon accessories inside the tender in this mode or .......
    BBADA197-CF86-47CF-B3E1-410985E036DD.jpeg
........go all Wartrain which looks very cool. Still, no pieces left behind!!!

Just to clarify, feel free to leave pieces behind. Just saying, with this figure you can use everything. Yes, even in bot mode.

I love how Astrotrain can go all ‘Battlemech’ and ‘John Wick’ at the same time.
    5BEDCC6D-A389-4989-B898-A8C3EEDB8751.jpeg
This is my definitive Astrotrain. I’m so happy they made this G1 toon accurate triple-changer. He’s always been one of my favorite ‘Cons and with all the extras, I think they improved him. Siege Astrotrain I think has the best and most sensible Leader gimmick of the line. All of the extra bits can be incorporated into each mode in a way, I feel, that works for each mode. To me, it all just makes sense, and that’s what I love about this figure. No pieces left behind means more playability and more fun! WFC: SIEGE RULES!!!!!

This is a fine post, sir. Pretty sure I'm gonna need at least two of these, maybe even a third.

I love the 'gun satellite' in the top pic btw!

I’m still hoping for an MP Galactic Man but in the meantime I’m still overjoyed to have the Siege figure. 1E3DAF92-7D86-4161-BFCB-7BC09161EF7B.jpeg DDE38155-8311-44E1-9006-FA2C90BA220F.jpeg EF62193A-98D8-43F0-84D4-1E0E5B7332EF.jpeg

Nah, I just cleaned off the paint apps from the shins of the Alphastrike version of Sideswipe. I’m far too lazy to add things. :D

Do you use the Testor's enamels, or the acrylics? I'm wondering because I've read some people who had reported plastic degradation with the enamels

Thank you! And it does kinda look like a satellite now that you mention it, but it’s just the tender box splayed open to see how the weapons store inside. But I like ‘gun satellite’ better.

    The past and the future....

I was playing with my Orion Pax, and aside being a tad small, he really could be a reissue for WfC... they're doing it for StarScream classic, they could do it with this guy too.

I'm amazed at the fact that he is good plastic, and had excellent/amazing articulation, as much if not more than many Siege figures. I think that he's been seriously overlooked.
