Move aside, Broadside!
Ultra Prime and Optimus Magnus:
Optimus blends a lot more with Ultra Magnus’s armor than I thought he would. It’s not a bad combination (the grey waist and upper legs are very striking), but I feel that Magnus with Optimus’s armor stands out more. (And yet I prefer Ultra Prime’s color scheme. Go figure.) Optimus Magnus’s color scheme reminds me of the Robolinks that Revell imported from Takara.
I want a WFC Delta Magnus even more now.
I'm curious, has anybody tried or seen any instances of attaching the Titans Return Apeface Titan Master to the new Siege Apeface? I've got one in a drawer I bought when I heard the new one was coming out but odds are I won't be able to find one my self for quite some time due to an upcoming move.
I’m definitely going to have cross-continuity fun.
If they do a Bulkhead, I’m doing a group shot with Bumblebee, Prowl, Ratchet, and Optimus.
And Frenzy (the cassette) is probably going to be Barricade’s partner on my shelf.
Putting Magnus in Galaxy Prime's armour makes me realise how much he resembles Nova Prime. Hmm...
Octone looks awesome in that pic.
DaimChoc Reports - ダイムチョック・リポーツ
Here's one from Seibertron.com (hope that's okay to post here)
For what it is, Siege Impactor's tank mode is decent despite the odd proportion (Especially with the tank turret been almost as big as the lower tank hull) and I like that you can axtually rotate the tank turret.
His finest final hour...
As the Autobot Resistance campaign really went in the toilet!
I'm done messing around with Omega Supreme, now. V2 of my head and chest mods (from v1, primarily better color matching compared to rest of figure). Will update modding thread later. The sides of his face look distorted through the visor...as it should since light is getting reflected differently from the sides of the visor.
Did you do a casting for the chest or is that painted?
Got my Omega the other day and out of the box his faceplate is scuffed to buggery
I've emailed Hasbro UK for a replacement but I doubt they will help
Shame as the figure is so impressive otherwise
Somebody at the factory took the battle damage theme a bit too seriously.
Yep, casted that. Little bit less dark red compared to my first attempt. Now it’s a good candy red.
Can’t remember who, but someone here did red permanent marker which looked pretty decent afterward but I would be cautious about potentially getting red marks all over.
I had other ideas before casting but didn’t try them. Red clear acrylic spray paint may overpower the yellow but not sure about how much transparency would be left after. Theoretically, this may improve transparency somewhat as the original clear plastic surface is not silky smooth (which is why clear visor is very difficult to make and needs lots of post-processing).
I thought about red cellophane too. The back of the window has thick molded details, so can’t apply to the back. One could apply to the front and tuck it in on the sides. Both of these would involve disassembling the whole center tank assembly, though.
That’s one of the more egregious examples I’ve seen. The clear plastic used on Omega is not crystal clear. Even on mine, which isn’t too bad, you can see swirls up close and even what would look like internal scratch marks. The swirls also extend to the surface and YMMV in terms of clarity.
This is also why I had a ridiculously hard and looooooong time making a custom clear visor. The swirls extend to the surface, the silicone copies that, and all the defects are easily seen without color dye. It looks foggy without dye and took lots of post-processing magic to make it look good.
In your case, a band-aid type fix would be to use clear acrylic sprays. I use Tamiya TS13 cans. Do not do heavy coats and don’t be too surprised if you need several light coats to get a good result. The spray will help to fill in all the micro gaps on the surface and then improve clarity. Depending on the temperature of your work space, you can wait 10 minutes or so between coats and then let the final one dry overnight to form a hard shell. There’s a t-shaped bit at the bottom of the visor that you can mask off with tape and use a clamp to hold.
You would need to disassemble the head, though. I’ve posted guides before on dissembling the head and center tank parts.
Would using paint thinner or modeling cement (the thinner, liquidy type) on the scuffed plastic give the same results?
Amazon 3 pack arrived at home from Amazon FR and Rainmakers from Ebay
I also received Greenlight , will post pics another day with full "shield" of solus
Now, I only miss regular impactor and regular mirage (can waith since I have these) and the final 5th wave with Rung and Astrotrain
"I told me there'd be days like this..."
I would avoid using thinner / solvent as people have reported significantly more melting / disintegrating problems with the current clear plastics on Siege figures. I'm only assuming the same would apply to Omega Supreme's clear yellow plastic.
As for modeling cement, I don't use the stuff, so can't say with confidence.
