I like the look of the main body of the guns, it's the way they do the handles that bugs me.
Ok, finally got the Matrix Workshop Barricade / Smokescreen kit fixed up (pegs sanded down to the right sizes and lengths; blaster port expanded to the right size) and now everything fits like it should have in the first place. Also sprayed clear varnish coats on to prevent the paint from scuffing.
Plugging the side cannons into the blaster almost makes it look like a mini ship. Also pic comparing to the Prowl kit (which also took a long time to get fixed up to make it useable; some parts had missing paint so I also repainted the whole kit).
One of the local comic stores here sells non-exclusive Selects, so they got several Smokescreens in, but my son didn't want one.
I got Ratchet last week and while originally I thought he was just an Ironhide redeco I was pleasantly surprised he has quite a few different parts (not just his weapons) than Ironhide...he's become my favorite use of that mold now...
that backpack launcher is really nice, though I wonder if they swiped that from Ironhide as he was shown in the toon using it...
First post here - I've been lurking for several weeks. I love all the photos - some very nice collections. I'm just starting mine.
Bad Cop, Good Cop
Until a few months ago, I hadn't bought a Transformer toy for myself in 30+ years. I remember being a youngster when G1 came out, and loved the toys, the comic books, and the cartoon. But like most things in childhood, interest eventually wanes. Through the years I'd spot the TF toys here and there in Walmart or Target or when I'd take a kid to Toy R Us. None that I saw sparked an interest. The movie ones were not interesting to me at all, though my son did get a few of them when he was younger. I do remember seeing a couple of the Combiner Wars and Titans Return boxes in recent years and being impressed, but not enough to want to buy. Then, in June I spotted the Siege line in Walmart as I was present shopping and I was blown away - not just by how good the bots looked, but how well several recalled the G1/cartoon look! I mean the look was clearly distinctive and updated, but they still hit all the right nostalgia buttons for me. The one in particular that caught my eye was Hound. Had him as a G1, and always liked the character. And so that day, I picked up Hound and Skytread, and I've been picking the rest up here and there ever since.
These two are definitely my favorites of the Deluxe class so far.
And here's my attempt at recreating part of one of my favorite panels from the original comics:
"Shockwave... you are relieved of command!" "What?!"
Good first post!! Welcome to the forum and welcome back to the fandom!!
Welcome to the jungle! Hope you have luck getting the exclusives you want...it can get frustrating at times.
I started collecting again at Siege as well, though I had a small jump start: it was TR Cosmos that inspired me to start checking the toy aisles again. Then PotP brought me a Dinobot combiner...then Siege was announced and it's been all downhill since! RIP my wallet and I'm not even collecting all the exclusives!
May you find your Skyfire on discount!
Similar story here. Siege was what got me into collecting for the first time since childhood. Started with just Siege Optimus Prime, expanded from there. They don't call this stuff "plastic crack" for nothing, I guess.
Some much needed tail light details.
Been trying to do something similar without much success. I'm stealing this, thanks!
Welcome aboard! Siege really is addictive and fun. I usually collect Masterpiece toys. I got hooked onSiege when Unicron was announced. Glad to have you here and part of our craziness. Keep posting the pictures!!
The sanding wasn't difficult at all, only took a little bit. Everything fits snug. I don't see how you could possibly sand too much unless you were really hacking at it.
I look at these kits the same way I do a model kit. They're small batches and need a little adjusting to fit perfectly. Not a big deal.
Given that I just had to custom make pins for a mass release Hasbro Ironhide whose leg panels would just fall right off, and my Starscream has a chest panel that falls off, and Hound has a leg panel that pops off easily, it seems like "I shouldn't have to do anything just to get stuff to work out of the box" is going around a lot these days.
Welcome to the boards! The first lines I've really collected are POTP and Siege. I know which of those two is superior, namely Siege.
Smokescreen getting his Cagney&Lacey on.
"Move away from the kid of you're minced metal!"
