And who exactly could they be remolds of?
The T30 figures. They could be lazy and release those again. Rhinox would fit in the most. Waspinator, while being very show accurate in robot mode would look off since his beast mode is not entirely organic.
Did you forget those figures existed and they went repaint happy with them?
Hasbro doesn't reach that far back for mainline repaints though. When was the last time Hasbro rereleased an 8-9 year old mold in the mainline? Hasbro also did not go repaint happy with the T30 molds.
Oh yeah just like how they rereleased T30 Arcee for Earthrise Arcee
New trilogy, new molds.
Beast Megatron: New Packaging! Same Product!
Yeah but that's a special side-release anniversary thing. Like, it's specifically advertising itself as a retro re-release thing.
I dont see the point in them digging up the T30 molds though. Didn't someone say that they wouldn't re-release the CW stunticons to coincide with the new menasor because it would be too cost prohibitive over new molds?
I'm really hoping Cyclonus (and SS86 Scourge) get back in stock on Pulse because I'm not about to pay 50+ dollars for Cyclonus on Amazon or pay out the ass in shipping elsewhere.
I hope you guys are right.
Cyclonus will be repack in wave 3 of Kingdom which will come out in a couple months so all B&M and on-line retailers will get more of the figures in.
Terrorsaur and Ultra Magnus are really the only Kingdom figures that got the excessive mold reuse treatment in Kingdom thus far. And probably just as many in Earthrise. Most mold reuses are logical, given the legacy of those characters *as* mold sharing, like Skywarp or Cordon. As for excessive mold reuses, they're few and far between nowadays. Hasbro doesn't tend to do that as often any more. Earthrise had 4 whole Deluxe carformers with roof chests and hood feet at standard retail, and none of them shared any tooling between each other.
Unless I missed an important post(which in all likelihood I may have), for all we know, the Terrorsaur "retool" could be just using shared engineering of Kingdom Airrazor but having an entirely different set of parts ala Combiner Wars Silverbolt and Power of the Primes Hun-Grrr.
Apollux went into great detail about the shared parts and engineering. I forget the details myself but a quick browse through his post history should give you what you're looking for
I think it is here from Description of Upcoming Transformers Kingdom Terrorsaur Toy
"I've seen a pic of Terrorsaur, looks pretty good for an Airrazor retool
Pteranadon mode looks good to me, with the concession that like most TFs with jet/aerial modes it looks best from the top.
He looks decent in botmode, a bit sleek maybe, and the wings on the back are quite off model but will probably not be an issue when you have the figure in hand.
It looks like he has a faux chest piece made to look like the back of the Pteranadon so they didn't have to reorient the transformation scheme.
I'd say on the whole it's the Botmode that's compromised (and only barely) which was the right choice as Terrorsaur's onscreen transformation involved CGI magic...
Can't tell size from the images I've seen, but a pretty significant re-tool.
From what I can tell the major shared parts are the lower legs the forearms and potentially some of the internal skeleton/structure.
Head(s), wings, chest, waist, feet etc all look to have new sculpting
To be honest he's not really show or toy accurate, but you can tell the team at Hasbro have done their best within the retool budget allowed.
Pteranadon head (articulated opening mouth) on the back in botmode, and what looks like a faux chest that remains the chest in Pteranadon mode.
Wings are tip down (not upside down like the OG toy).
@Zi Shan Why did you quote me without saying anything...?
It's actually from a post from @Apollux here on TFW.
Just to be sure, new molds for Rhinox and the maximal's favorite chewing toy are already confirmed. I wouldn't hate to just get a T30 Waspinator with a realistic bug mode. It's a minor remold after all. But they wanna do an entire new one, i just don't understand why he's gonna be a deluxe instead than a core class... We only have 2 core beasts so far and one is a skeleton.
Maybe it’s because Waspinator is bigger then Quickstrike? It’s actually kind of hilarious really. Quickstrike doesn’t even reach Waspinator’s shoulders even when Waspinator is bending his knees.
That's taken directly from what Apollux said here on the boards. I think the UK thread?
Inferno and Tarantulas needs to happen first before we bring in season 2 characters (I would still like to see Silverbolt, Rampage and Quickstrike get new figures though.)
People are saying core for Quickstrike but I personally think he’d be better at a deluxe price for more articulation and paint.
Yeah, he should be a Cliffjumper type deal.
