Oh, that. The render makes it look much tighter than what it really is (not to mention adding an extra port that doesn't exist on the real toy). It's a sub-mm gap IRL. If it bothers someone a lot, one could do tight rubber bands and then heat treat. Not sure if that would affect bot mode, though. Can't make it flush because of how the nosecone transforms.

Anyhow, it does happen to match the air intake areas on the G1 animation model, so that would also be ok.

 

I was wondering the same, so I checked EVERY review out there, every picture and they all have it, so that's just how it is.

The picture in the back of the box is pure BS, as not only they show those to be flush, but the weapon is also at the back of the ship, which indicates that there was a planned extra 5mm hole on the legs that didn't happen, which seriously sucks as I find the hole in the cockpit to be way too forward to look good, and if you place it at the underside of the wings, they should have included a second gun to balance it out.

This figure is simply one of the best in the last few years, but that is the biggest "con" for it: that gap.

The secondary peeve for me is the no weapons in the ship mode and that single gun... which looks great, but so empty that I'm afraid that it'll break easily (handle) due to how empty it is.
