Ark came in at Chosen Prime today!!! Can't wait to get him in hand!
Meet my clone bro. We're a bad influence on each other
Me and the boys going to destroy the Matrix.
Thank you. I easily had the tab in the notch (when it's at a 90° angle in the notch) but, I could feel the tension and thoguht for sure there was more tension than there was. Your final picture made me flip my copy over and, it was at that point that I realized the wasn't tension on the entire wing and that I just needed to give it a little more nudge and it went into the correct orientation. For clarity, I had everything in the correct position prior to seeing these images (I just severely overestimated what the tension felt like).
I know this is the appreciation thread but (this issue needs exposure/foot-traffic). . .
I do have the very thin stress mark on the area in the top 90° corner of the wing where the hinge is (similar to this picture from the review thread):
It's not anywhere else though and it doesn't extend out onto the top nor bottom face/surface of the wing. The stress mark is actually more noticeable on the left wing (which was assembled/oriented correctly out of the package). It's less noticeable on the right wing (which was the one I had to fix). These either happened during assembly, boxing, or unboxing. The when in this instance doesn't matter though because it is the direct result of poor engineering (both the toy and the cutout on the cardboard backer/insert).
The tab shouldn't be on the toy nor should the tab's notch. There should have been friction bumps on the edges of the line breaks to serve as a "soft-lock" and would have completely removed the ability to fold the wing wrong because it would have folded in both directions. The section of plastic that connects to the hinge should have a substantially wider amount of plastic in the diagonal/catty-corner areas) because that's obviously where the breaks occur (based on pictures and even a basic cursory evaluation). I don't understand how anyone involved thought having such a a narrow section of plastic in those areas was fine. No one should have to worry about stopping one side of a hinge from moving while trying to get the other side of the hinge to move just to transform or pose.
I would be amazed if the stress marks (as well as hidden internal damage) aren't caused by assembly given that such a fragile area are "pops" onto the hinge. There is absolutely no way I could pop mine off without breaking something which is absurd given that the entire point of a friction/pop connection is so that something pops off instead of breaking (e.g. balljoints, mushroom pegs that aren't fully enclosed, Kingdom Warpath's flap, etc.). Even if it got out of assembly fine, someone is shoving the wings/tail through a cutout on the cardboard backer/insert that is entirely too small and that's going to go horribly wrong if done haphazardly or while frustrated, or in a rush, or any of the other countless variables.
I like Airazor far more than I thought I would. While other birbs/aviary say tooki tooki ka-caw ka-caw, Airazor bellows SKREEEEEE and knocks them out of the sky. The robot mode is fantastic and, Airazror's codpiece lifts up so that the leg articulation isn't restricted like Blackarachnia's is. This is probably one of the few toys that I will attempt a wash and paint on to make all the gorgeous feather details on the shoulder pauldrons/spaulders (as well as the tail and wings) have enough contrast/shadow to show off the sculpt work.
An Orange Junklord, a Race-Driving Orc, and a reformatted Dinobot reformatted from the Dinobot's format walk into a bar...
Stop me if you've heard this one...
Excellent box art, hey?
He is small…but brave.
This little guy is just packed full of personality
I’ll say what I’ve said before, I think primal should have been updated to have the maces of his transmetal form as melee weapons as they fit him better than the machetes.
'What do you mean we just showed up? We've always been here, we were just in the back playing blackjack, drinking heavily and buffing ourselves silly.'
Did you get him from Pulse?
Hopefully, Amazon will ship mine early
Ya, both came in yesterday (Monday).
Scrap, he's got henchmen now!
