After seeing the 2 side by side, I’m gonna have to stay with siege version. The cab on siege is more appealing to me as it’s not simply a white Optimus. Also maybe it’s the camera used or maybe it’s just me but the colors seem too flat. Like KO levels of flat.

I will stand by Dark Fate, Salvation, and Rise of the Machines until the day I die. Not my favorite movies by any means, but I like them a lot and I feel like they all are still quite good, even if they never live up to the first two. Speaking of, I need to watch 2 again, it's been a while.

I feel like Magnus is only really improved in big bot mode. He looks perfect barring the blue pegs on his shoulders and the blue wrapping around at the bottom of his chest, both of which are minor problems. However, Siege's core bot looked way better in both modes imo. It stinks, because I think the new Earth parts look great, but they don't work on the Siege core bot base, and they don't transform enough to save him from being too chonk. Definitely wish they had enough budget to do more with the core figure/make a new one, use Earthrise Prime, or even use Siege Prime. I know those other figures would require entirely new armor as well, which would probably add up to Commander budget, although I wouldn't mind seeing that in the future. I wonder if 3P will come up with a new core bot?

 

I could be mistaken, but I think it was mostly those 3, and Grimlock (who was a white repaint of Dinobot) that were accepted to be the same character as their G1 versions? Otherwise what happened a lot with Beast Wars toys was that we had lots of characters with G1 names, but they were clearly not the same character. I think some of it had to do with they just had to use the names or they lost the trademarks for them?

 

I just got T-Rex Megatron, is anyone else having trouble with the robot head staying together? I have a huge gap where the front and back of the head connect, and it will not stay connected by the tab at the bottom (where it attaches to the neck).

 

This is leaning into beast machines, but isn’t T-Wrecks(the red original Megatron repaint) at least heavily hinted at being the original Grimlock as well?

 

I'm tempted to call my local Walmart and ask when they get a new shipment in.

 

I'm so pumped for Magnus. I remember getting the Titanium Magnus back in the day and thinking 'welp this is probably as good as we'll ever get'.  

 

His bio hinted and implied that it may be, but it was never flat out said anywhere in official fiction that it was him (and to my knowledge) by any other source from Hasbro.

Finally got Rattrap! I really like how wee he is, especially considering the quality and articulation!

 

I think it's less that his legs are too short, as they're about four heads long if you imagine where the top of Cyclonus' head would end if he didn't wear a helmet, which is your standard superhero leg proportions. I think it's the case of his hands being slightly too long that throws your eyes off and makes you think he's too stumpy. I think Earthrise Double Dealer's arms played a smilar trick on people's eyes. It doesn't really bother me, as not even Derry's G1 designs had perfect human proportions most of the time (just look at Optimus' miles long legs or Jazz's super short torso), and like many others have pointed it out, you can always extend his legs if you want to stretch him out a bit.

That being said, your edit looks pretty sweet too. It balances the extra long arms out real well, not to mention giving Cyke that extra anime robot feel.
