yep...the way the trend of g2 and diaclone colors I was expecting a white or yellow Trailbreaker/Hoist...black Ironhide (which also would have worked for sg)...or a redeco new head sculpt Dreadwing or Thunderwing. Was not expecting SG...but happy surprise...I was gonna custom my spare siege Prime and Ratchet into SG...but then money got tight and I sold the spare ratchet...so this is a win win...now I just want more. LOL

Any hopes on an Earthrise Blaster retool of Soundwave?

I'm gonna guess that'll be in Studio Series '86. Almost all the slots for ER and Kingdom are "known" and Blaster's biggest moment was in the movie.

I'm kind of thinking Hasbro's walmart re-release of the G1 figure is a kind of *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge* temporary filler until then. Basically if you want a Blaster, you can use the G1 one for now. He looks enough the part.

Has hasbro ever done a Selects of a studio series figure? Just thinking ahead to a possible Twincast.

No they haven't. And I actually wonder if they can or would.

Fun fact: back when the first 3 movies were getting made, and I assume the last 2, Michael Bay negotiated for himself a lucrative merchandising cut. It was something like 15% of every unit, including for toys, based on the Movies. Hasbro apparently didn't care for the first two films, because there was novelty to "a big screen transformers movie with cutting edge 3D" and "the sequel". They probably hoped to make it up on quantity sold. But by the time DotM rolled around, the novelty wore off and the line got smaller. Part of that was the great recession - ROTF saw simplified figures made in response to the recession, but DoTM was the first line made in the middle of it. And then AoE and TLK hit and the movie merchandise was more contracted than ever and pulled into "brand unification". Hasbro wanted to talk far more about Generations than movie stuff at that point. Movie stuff was a sideshow I always figured that one reason Hasbro did that was because movie toys didn't sell like they used to, and the deal with Michael Bay wasn't as good as it used to be. Why promote Generations Movies toys you have to split profits on, when they could promote Combiner Wars or Titans Return instead, and not share? Finally with Bumblebee, the movie line barely existed. Mostly just Bumblebee figures and some cheap kids toys. 2 years later, we're getting legitimate SS of the Decepticons in the film.

From a presentation a couple of years ago, Studio Series evidently got its start because Hasbro saw Takara doing it's "Movie: The Best" line and considered importing it, before deciding to do a dedicated new line on its own and alternate releases on the calendar with Generations. Movie tie in stuff was an easy sell to Target and Walmart too. But I do wonder: does Michael Bay still get a cut of Studio Series figures? Does Hasbro have full rights to all things movie-related now? If so it would explain the lack of interest in doing a selects SS figure, or about utilizing any aspect of SS engineering or molding for a generations figure.

Considering that, aside from some obscure characters (the Fallen, the rest of the Dinobots, random background Deceptions, Dino, Q, and Jolt) Studio Series has done more or less all the movie characters they could really base the line around, it makes sense for Hasbro to transition to "Movie '86" from this angle, as it promotes a product they may have exclusive ownership of.

    Some speculation of course.

If they will do the ss boys for selects too, I'd like to see a two pack of Stepper and Artfire... Stepper from the ss Jazz and Artfire from Kingdom Inferno

I just saw the preview for ER Sunstreaker, and he looks good, but I would rather have an Earhmose Sideswipe to pair him with. Cybertron mode is alright, but I'm a sucker for classic-type figures.

So, since we have gotten a Smokescreen, Prowl, and Bluestreak, it's safe to assume that we'll be getting a Barricade, right?

And, we should be also getting an Inferno at some point as well?

Barricade is coming in the Netflix line and it's a reasonable guess that it is going to be the Smokescreen mold.

Inferno is coming in Part 3 of the Trilogy / Kingdom

So the identity of E28 remains the only unsolved Earthrise mystery, yes? What are the possibilities? Who's missing? We're definitely looking at something that's both a store exclusive and a repaint, right?

What if e28 is another 2 pack. Maybe walgreens exclusive. They didnt get one this year so its possible.

edit: heres some crazy speculation. What if its a pair of repaints of the siege seeker mold representing sunstorm and bitstream

Yeah, we still don't have a clue since the most likely suspect, the Autobot Clones, were announced as part of the Galactic Odyssey line.

There's no Sunstorm in the works. Or Ghost Starscream.
