What do you think of the custom? I know an upgrade kit is available but I happy with this DIY custom.

I think the custom smokestacks are a much needed improvement.

And I get it now, the Altmode is SO satisfying. Glad I jumped on the Reissues of Skywarp and Thundercracker when I did. Got Sandstorm sitting in my BBTs loot pile too. Now I just need Amazon to get their act together cos brother, I gots the fever!

 

I have roughly the same combined setup, but using Black Roritchi as the core. How did you mount the back panels on the legs? Mind showing the back as well. TIA.

Was going todo the Arcee thrill 30 head swap. Now that ss and kingdom are hitting its EBay time again. Need to thin the Hurd and pad the wallet

 

What did you use? I’ve been thinking about custom stacks for prime! One idea I had was to come up with a design that slips over the original but idk of my 3d printer could print it well cuz it kinda sucks lol

Still needs a spoiler and a decent weapon, but I think Sunstreaker looks much better with the new “paint job” I just gave him.


I got the Toyhax labels for this bright bot. Admittedly, still not a perfect color match to the molded yellow plastic, but it looks better IMO than the obnoxious fluorescent yellow. Honestly, I could’ve lived with the brighter yellow paint, but I thought this set really added some great touches to make Sunstreaker really dazzle. He’s definitely my favorite figure from Wave 3.

I absolutely refuse to use his engine block as a weapon. It just looks ridiculous. Besides, Sunstreaker doesn’t really look right without his exhaust stacks behind his head. So it makes him look even more ridiculous.
So I repurposed a gun from RID Stormshot to showcase with him. It’s not the best option, but the best that I have available. Hoping Nonnef will do a weapon and spoiler set like they did for Siegeswipe.


I really love the subtle changes they made from Wheeljack’s design to make Sunstreaker feel like a whole new figure. I know it’s not the same mold, but they do share some engineering. But I think it’s great how different they seem from each other.


I really think his car mode looks so much better with the new stickers. Unfortunately, Toyhax didn’t include labels for the mid-window panel lines. You can still tell the bright yellow paint there. Still, much less egregious in person and now I think they’re just some nice highlights to the vehicle.
I think my favorite stickers though are the black striping along the bottom edges and the door panels. These make Sunstreaker look absolutely sexy.

Plus, I think the black striping helps to make the new yellow stickers standout less. The vent stickers are really nice touches that help draw focus from the rear bumper. Those particular labels still look a bit more off compared to the roof sticker. I think part of the reason is because the bright yellow paint is still visible on the port holes. Definitely throws off the color blend some. That’s a big reason though why I like all the new black labels, it helps bring everything together, at least to my eye.


Other than the initial color clashes and a little splotchy paint along the edges of the windows, I don’t really have any other complaints about Sunstreaker. Mine is very solid and tight joint-wise and he poses quite nicely. He’s got a dreamy headsculpt (that apparently does remind some people of Wolverine, thanks @Revoticus) that really helps him shine. I really love the look of this figure and I’m sure Sunstreaker would appreciate the compliments.

I can't take credit though, someone else came up with it first and I just replicated what I saw. I need many more weaponizer/modulator/fossilizer combos to replicate!

 

Those black stickers really does make him look better, I like how it breaks up the yellow on the shoulders.

Time to get the trusty Gundam Marker and get to work!
