Excuse me. I've got something in my eye. I need to leave the room.

First Earthrise delivery is in the house!

    IMG_20200210_141552485.jpg

He's probably the all-round best G1 Optimus we've ever had (and may ever get at this scale).

But I'm bored with him after 10 mins. I think I'm just sick of G1 Prime's design (and I say this as a fan since the beginning). The figure is stellar, but brings hardly anything new or exciting to the table, to the point where it feels like he's a bit "been there, done that" straight out of the box.

I hoped the quality would win out over my G1 apathy for Optimus, but it wasn't quite enough....

Hopefully Earthrise has some more original/inventive designs waiting in the wings for later in 2020.

After fiddling with the wave for a while, I've decided Cliffjumper, purely in "good toy" terms, no affection for character or anything taken into account, is the best of them. But with a great big asterix and a footnote that says "Mind you given the price and the size, he friggin better be"

Really hoping for a Leader Rodimus Prime with the same Matrix and storage and style of hands so he can do the same pose.

Now, we're getting there... All I need to do is transplant Siege's legs and he'll be perfect.

The thighs are basically the same, internally.

I've already opened ER's. They swivel on a mushroom peg, internally. I'm guessing Siege's is the same inside. From the knees down, they're the same legs, but neutered.

SS38 is one of my personal favorite figures. Alt mode cab is great. I have a fansproject g3 trailer that I use on him with a custom hitch adapter (although any 5mm peg could sorta work).

POTP's trailer is probably not the best one to bring up as it's known to be a small trailer too.

If you just compare the box parts alone, the ER trailer is just a little smaller in all 3 dimensions. The high clearance of ER's trailer is what makes it look slightly taller than POTP. POTP OP in full alt mode is significantly longer than ER OP. Of course, POTP robot mode is a quite a bit taller than ER robot mode.

I wouldn't recommend it. The "easiest" way I see is to unpin the knees. If you notice the trailer port positions, it's changed on ER OP's legs to be further away from the cab. So, if you used Siege OP's port position with an ER cab, the trailer would end up too close and barely rotate.

    Edit:
Length comparison. The photo angle makes it looks like ER's trailer is a hair longer but it's actually a hair shorter.
    compare3.jpg

TR OP's comparison. The photo angle and height difference of TR's feet make the comparison look wonky but TR's "trailer" length and total length are longer than ER.
    compare2.jpg

This shows the difference in port positions and why attempting (lower) legs transplant would put the trailer too close.

For those who have ER Prime, can he hold the Siege gun really well?

The top of his hand can hold any standard 5mm port well.

Ah, okay. I was worried the Siege gun’s port was too small to fit in his hand.

We literally got three different Optimus's (Optimi?) in Siege. Four if you count the TakaraTomyMall exclusive Nemesis.

Is ER Prime's left leg the same piece as Siege Prime's Right leg? Actually, both legs are the same, just swapped! Hmm... Maybe just a thigh swap then?

Can we start making it a thing with the Ramp Masters randomly planking on things?
