Understandable, but I thought the Siege version so Earth vehicle-like that it works . Actually it looks more like an Earth 4 wheel drive vehicle than anything I’d imagine a cybertronian vehicle to look like. Even his primary weapon looks like a machine gun! Granted it isn’t a specific Earth model like a jeep, but then neither are that many of the Earthrise or SS86 car-bots. I was impressed Netflix Bumblebee got the proper VW licence, but the Lamborghini guys, the Datsun guys and Porsche guys don’t really turn into those cars, do they, although their design isn’t far off.

This big boy arrived today. I’m impressed at how quickly he arrived from the States, although considering how much I was charged (more than the cost of the figure) it was the least they could do.


I’m not convinced that Optimus Prime is to scale, unless we go with Netflix show proportions!


Don’t worry, I won’t be leaving him so close to that radiator.  Very impressed by the size and weight, and looks great too. I knew he was big but it’s only when I had him in hand I appreciated how big.

I tried the guns on the sides of his claws too, (there are even three ports which match the pegs rather than just the single on his shoulders. Of course the single is better in the end because you can rotate them, although that’s not a big deal on his claws. Athough they’re more practical there I think they'd look better further forward where the fit isn’t so good. The conventional place on the shoulders looks really good, and you can always swivel them forward, although there’s a bump in the way.

Yet to transform. Hoping the ramp I attached to his back can remain attached for transformation.

Overall, so far, very good. Looking forward to base mode with the Kingdom core transformers.

Does he need those extra kits? While an extra pair of guns would be nice, I don’t think so. He is a magnificent beast as he is.

An alternate place for the guns (there are two ports side by side, but I think the outermost one looks best).


I haven’t gotten those blast effects situated quite right but I think the gun positions work quite well on top there. They give you just the one set of those blast effects for those four barrels, but I had the Jetfire set to hand too.

Don't forget Brawn, Windcharger and Gears! Well.. those dudes are mini-bots, but still.

 

Huffer could pull off the tiny alt mode and be a convincingly short robot because the Volvo F88 was an itty bitty tiny COE (cab over engine) truck.



It would ruffle feathers but, Windcharger should be at least as tall as Kingdom Tracks because, the 3rd Generation F-bodys (Camaro/IROC-Z/Firebird/Trans-Am) were all slightly longer than the 80s C3 Corvette. Windcharger's G1 robot height never made sense and it was constrained by having a mini toy. They'll probably scrap that alt mode though (le sigh) and change it to a sub compact car that's a mishmash of the 3rd Generation F-body and whatever it was randomly drawn as at Sunbow and the robot it morphed into. Something would have to change regardless though or Windcharger would have really thin arms like the G1 toy does since they are formed by the front fenders and the doors while the head, upper torso, pelvis and thighs are made up of well over 2/3 of the rest of the alt mode (everything from where the rear hatch starts and moving forward).

I think Gears can probably get away with being short since it didn't have an exact alt mode and they can just use one of the smaller/shorter "mini trucks" as a starting point and give it the right aesthetics. Gears and Brawn would probably wind up sharing engineering but being different (similar to Earthrise Wheeljack and Earthrise Sunstreaker and Earthrise Runabout/Runamuk). Both Brawn and Gears cheated in the animation and made several parts (including their rims/tires) completely vanish so it shouldn't be too hard to pull off. The only heavy discrepancy/compromise would be for anyone wanting throwbacks to the toys since all 4 rims/tires are on Brawn's legs while Gears has 2 rims/tires on the shoulders and 2 rims/tires on the legs.

I'm very tempted to get Earthrise G2 Megatron because he looks so good in that deco compared to the original. Plus I always wanted to get that version of Megatron, practical camo be damned!
