Galactic Odyssey Collection Botropolis Rescue Mission
I recently had the Matrix Workshop Energon Axe delivered.
It is a very beautifully sculpted thing with lots of detail on the blade, and metallic gunmetal paint on the haft. It’s also very nice that it comes in various parts that allow you to have it in three different configurations. The downside is that the haft’s lovely paint job is broken up with bits of white where the posts are. This wouldn’t be an issue if the posts went all the way in, but they aren’t really deep enough for that.
The posts are rather tight (typical for Matrix Workshop stuff) so I filed them a bit, but they still wouldn’t go all the way, so it’s not a matter of thickness, but length. (Oo-er, matron.) The exception was the hand interface piece, which is just as well as that’s the configuration I was most interested in.
Now I got this for Earthrise Prime. I was informed after ordering it, that it wasn’t really compatible. (While the pictures on the site were all Siege Prime, I got it into my head that it would likely work for both.) By then it was on its way and I figured I could probably find a use for it even if it required Prime to hold it in a more conventional way.
Anyway, I tried it out with Nemesis Prime first, since he’s of the Siege mold. (Just to see how it looks. I never planned to give it to him, as he’s got two swords already. He mustn’t be greedy.) Looked pretty good as you can see.
Taking it off was a pain, though. Curiously, I don’t think it was the peg in the hand interface in this case. The tight fit appeared to be the hand in the interface, itself.
I briefly considered testing it with Siege Galaxy Upgrade Prime, until I saw his fists are even bigger, then slipped it on Earthrise Prime, the one I’d wanted it for.
Nice surprise, it slipped on fine with no problems at all. Now the warning I’d received earlier wasn’t wrong in that it wobbles slightly, and the outer sides of the interface are out of line with his arm (they’re a perfect fit to Siege mold, like an extension of his arm).:
But if you turn his fist around one quarter, it looks much better. Sure, you end up with part of his hand exposed from the side (something that might be a worthwhile project to sort out) and it still doesn’t line up quite right, but from the right angle, it looks okay.
It does look a bit oversized for him (it would have been preferable if the interface section were smaller and could fit onto his arm socket after his hand had been folded away, like SS86 Hotrod and his saw attachment. Curiously, while the Siege mold’s forearms are no longer, the thickness lent by the kibble seem to accommodate the axe length better, but I’m not risking that snug fit again,) but it’s not bad at all.
So far, I heard of 2 stores in Canada that are having reissues of the Earthrise Coneheads and there is also one that has yet to post preorders.
Yeah, totally having a blast with these two although I have to tighten Sky Lynx's neck and wings before I fully enjoy him
They fit together so well!
Grimlock - "What you doing with Matrix Optimus?'
Optimus Prime - "Just reflecting on my responsibilities as leader, every once and awhile I like to just look at it to remind me of my purpose!"
Optimus Prime - "Having this inside you is a lot of responsibility Grimlock!"
Grimlock - "Me Grimlock responsible!"
Optimus Prime - "Trust me you don't know what responsibility is till you carry the Matrix inside you!"
Grimlock - "Me Grimlock learn responsibility!"
Optimus Prime - "GRIMLOCK! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"
Grimlock - "Hmmm, me Grimlock feel responsible and important now! Me Grimlock Prime cause me eat Matrix!"
Jazz - "Hey Prime! Looks like old Megatron and Starscream are up to their old tricks again at that new rocket base! What are your orders?"
Optimus Prime - "Take it up with Grimlock!"
"How careless, Prime! You were basically asking him to take the Matrix from you! Shameful! I shall not fail where you and my Prime have!"
For those, like me, who are making an 86 movie display, I know a lot of the Kingdom/Earthrise figures fit the 86 line movie aesthetic really well (like Magnus for instance). Earthrise Prime is very Geewunny, but he's not 100% with the exposed tires in bot mode and the funky side windows in all mode.
Do you think they will do an SS86 Prime? Is Earthrise/Kingdom Prime good enough for you? If not, is there another maybe 3rd party option in this size. I know we won't get a Walther P38 Megatron...
I'm not complaining about ER Prime, BTW. I love him. Just talking about aesthetics compared to the 86 line.
SS 86 and kingdom are complementary lines. It seems very unlikely that they will do one. This is CHUG, not MP.
That's what I figured, just wondering
Megatronus Prime addresses the public in the wake of the Extraction Plant bombing and the destruction of Industrial Sector 012.
I love how expressive these WFC/ss86 figures are
Stay close to me, Daniel!

The Autobots are being overrun!
Sky Lynx begins to evacuate the area as the Seekers close in.
Meanwhile, Metroplex prepares to cover their retreat as Trypticon is unleashed to defeat him once and for all.
All this on today’s episode of....
What Hound is that?
Universe Hound, looks really good with the Earthrise stuff, I have him on my shelf as well
