Anyone else a little disappointed at the lack of variation in the Targetmasters, ie the guns?

It's only really 3 guys with 2 being repainted in similar colors.

Hasbro could make it better by selling the all the lil blaster bolts effects in a package. Those are pretty cool.

With the lack of accessories offered with some characters, this could have been a really good opportunity to make up for it with the addition of some sweet weapons.
A really good idea but just a lil lackluster in my opinion. Needed a better follow through.

I was disappointed by the lack of knees on those Targetmasters more than anything.

More variety would have been nice, yes, but I like what we got. Still salty I never saw Singe at retail.

I do think it sucks that the Autobots only had 3 Target Masters while the Decepticons had about 12.

    Barely.
Not by enough to count in my book.
    Kinda a hybrid b/t 1 & 2. The body more like 2, the barrel more like 1.

But again, wouldn't be an issue if there were like at least two more molds that were really different.
And maybe at least one or two repaints of Rung.

Yea, ditto on Singe. I just discovered he existed, he's probably the best paint job and now only way to get him is for like 25 bucks on Ebay? Nope. I'll buy a 5 dollar Firedrive and paint one myself.

The poor distribution of the battle masters was the most disappointing aspect.

There was room for way more variety than we got.

As simplistic as these drawings are, still a small improvement.

    Even if they kept the robot modes similar;
they couldn't have thrown in at least some more colors and a few different gun barrels?

Is there even one, single barrel gun?

At least it's finally given me the excuse to pick up figure painting.

My journey to the dorkside is now complete.

The funny part is, Hasbro has access to a crap load of recent Targetmaster molds TakaraTomy made during the Titans Return period. They’re all new and very good. The cost of the mold and development is already paid for. Just make more , then profit.

Also, the word is; Artfire will be released later this year WITHOUT his Targetmaster. C’mon....

I just wish they had done a single center barrel variation.

    Really?
Wow, I did not know that.
Now ima have to go search.
See if I can find any of them.

    Update :
    Found em.
So that's where all the red and black ones are, they ALL came packaged with the Takara Headmasters. (The one's that shouldn't have been headmasters).
Didn't see anywhere to buy separately.
    That's a damn shame.
I would just go for the whole package but I can't get over my G1 "suppose'tas". Can't stand guys as headmasters that weren't/aren't.

But knowing that they already exist?!?
    I'm kinda even more annoyed.
    Hasbro get on it, man!

The Siege battle masters were disappointing overall. Firedrive in particular was pretty bad with his terrible white plastic.

Takara Legends Targetmasters were a lot better. Still no elbows, but they have knees. The heads technically rotate but that's part of the transformation and is linked to the hips.

Firedrive on left, Firebolt on right:

I wasn’t expecting a ton of variety, they are only $5 figures.

I forgot the Takara ones had knee joints.

Yeah, I've been complaining about this for quite awhile. Definitely needed more color variety.

Also, for the main 3 Autobot Targetmasters, the two that were released were exclusives (Pinpointer, Trenchfoot). They couldn't have made one readily available in the main line?

Yeah the only battle masters I ever got were Rung, Smashdown, and Slitherfang. Didn't even bother with anyone else, especially when I knew there were much better takara ones. They're way out of my price range now, but to settle for less is always a mistake if Universe Dinobot is anything to go by. It's why I didn't bother with Combiner Wars Liokaiser either.

I bought a bunch of them, but only because they were on clearance for $1 each, no way in hell I'd of paid full retail price of $7.99CAN.

I love the concept but not thrilled with the execution. Hard to disagree with any of the complaints here.

I felt pretty satisfied to finally pair Pinpointer with Siege Crosshairs but it was certainly frustrating to pay $49 for Netflix Megatron to accomplish that (although that Megs is pretty sweet).

I'm definitely upset there weren't pretty much any variations for the firebolt mold. Seriously, they all had black bodies with greyscaled limbs until pinpointer showed up. That doesn't even touch upon the lack of gun variations on all of them!! You could've had a single barreled cannon, a flamethrower looking barrel, a larger gatling gun looking barrel, a missile pod extension, saw blades, a taser looking blaster, so many options! And that's all just from Siege.

Smashdown could've been molded into another missile pod, a signal lancer homage, and a medical container. Rung could been retooled to look like Minimus ambus and recolored into the sweeps, and the crosswalkbots could've been cool if the roads could detach and they could walk around without them. Lionizer also needed more weapons/colors because two of the three usages of the mold were only distinguishable with a sliver of green paint!! Teradaxle could've been given a bat or hawk head, Slitherfang..... Naw, he's good.

Don't get me wrong, I friggin love these molds! I bought probably 20 siege wave 1 battlemasters just to fill out the missing gaps and dye some more, but there's just so much wasted opportunity here... I still hope we can get a (minimum of)10 pack one day with a bunch of the takara target Masters mixed with some newly colored Siege bots ..

I would have enjoyed it if some split at the hips (like TR Cloudraker) or laid down into a more rifle-like configuration, kind of like Ring? Rang? Wrung, that’s the one.
