I don't know if this counts as news, but I just found the so-called "exclusive" Deluxe Groove on the pegs at Walmart as part of their $9.88 sale on Deluxes. I didn't seek out this figure, but at this price, I couldn't resist grabbing one. Edit: Found it at a Walmart in Orangevale, California.
Which Wal-Mart? Because there was a while back when Walmart mysteriously got a bunch of Dragstrip w/ comic figures that were never supposed to exist.
There was a revision to the second wave of CW deluxes that added Drag Strip with the comic in. It was mainly done so stores could have the entire team in uniform packaging. Anyhow, as for the Grooves, I am tempted to say the ones found might have been returns? If Groove is found at other locations, that might prove me wrong though. +-MWG-+
[Sigh] Man, there are times when I wish I knew people in US who would be willing to buy things like these at these prices, and ship them to me here in Australia!
I know my area will never see Groove.Curious if this was a fluke.I remember someone finding the "Walgreens exclusive"TR Brainstorm at Walmart a few months back. Also you are in California.Hasbro loves your area.
There were at least six on the pegs, minus the one that I bought. I don't think it's a return. Might be a fluke, but at that quantity, who knows.
Maybe someone bought a whole case and thought they couldn't make their money back, so they returned them to Walmart to get something back.
We have him on retail shelves too but this is Singapore we're talking about. About USD $20.25 after membership discount.
When I say "don't exist" I mean, "appeared and disappeared w/out a word from Hasbro. So it's possible whatever distribution error/situation caused those to hit retail could've seen a bunch of Groove trickle out to stores. Maybe not by accident, but not by any full intent.
I hope the sudden abundance of deluxe Grooves doesn't impact our chances of getting a single-release of shuttle Blast-Off.... Baldigus/Ruination comes out in March, so the mold should be free after that.... I hope... *fingers crossed* (My worry here is that Hasbro sees lots of dlx Grooves left over and will think "well, CW ship has sailed, nobody wants shuttle Blast-Off since Groove didn't sell")
Hasn't Groove pretty much sold out at every site that was selling him though? I can't see how that can be considered a non seller, and therefore failure.
