Just picked this beautiful charismatic bugger up from Walmart this morning. I never owned Soundwave as a kid, so this was a must-buy for me.
I'm also not the most nostalgic person around, but that box back had me longing for the days of awesome packaging artwork and tech specs.

I just got the cassettes yesterday, noticed they shortened the blasters on laserbeaks weapons. Looks like buzzsaws are as well. Other than that, they are great reissues. Never got any of the older cassette reissues, just Soundwave, and my 30 some year old originals are kinda rough.

This looks great, really having to resist it when I find it as I have several soundwaves already..

Edit* Looks like they used the soundblaster mold since you can see the hinges for the deck door. On vintage Soundwaves you don't see it.

I picked him up over the weekend. The plastic is definitely lower quality than the original, but he looks really good. The placement of the stickers from the factory was horrendous. I has to carefully peel half of them and reapply.

Yeah, I had to reapply a few stickers as well. Buzzsaw was all askew.

Yeah you can see the crooked sticks in the box. Kind of sad. The tapes stickers seemed pretty decent though.

The stickers in general are really bad quality. A reprolabel set I had sitting around forever later and I’m happy with mine.

Make sure to look at the paint on the legs when buying. I’ve seen two cases full of these things and all of them have had nicks and scratches on the legs.

I never had a G1 soundwave before and what has surprised me about it is how much I like these G1 cassettes more than any of the modern ones. These feel more solid than the TR / Seige cassettes.

Feet look die-cast, is Buzzsaw all-plastic or is his chest painted die-cast?

... not that I'll find this guy in the wild or anything.

all the cassettes and Soundwave have the same diecast parts as their original releases.

It doesn't look like anything; the stickers, as on all these G1 reissues, have been preapplied.

So nothing on his wrists, knees, or inside thighs?

The sticker sheet is the same as the G1 toy.
Wrists, knees, speakers, track counter and weapon edges

    Everything else is already applied.

The stickers themselves are the same horrible foil stuff that’s been on all of the current reissues.

Can anyone tell me if the joints are tighter than the 2012 reissue?

Everything from the G1 line feels better to me than hasbros ball joints on everything and plastic only designs.
