I must be a less discerning collector. Maybe it's due to having seen it all since day 1?

The variations in colors being discussed really don't bother me. However, I'm somewhat hypocritical because the window decos in the Netflix version just stand out as "unfinished".

The Battlemasters, however, MORE than make up for it. My only disappointment is that I won't have access to multiples of the bridge/ramp/shield Battlemaster. He's really gorgeous!

These Netflix repaints with minor changes are releasing wayy too soon after the Siege releases. Many stores still have the Siege versions on shelves.

I think this line is cool, but if they are just going to re release most of the Siege guys with "show-accurate" battle damage, then why did the bother with the battle damage in the main line in the first place?? I get that it also has its place but c'mon, it's so repetitive.

Well at least siege Red Alert wore comfortable brown loafers to the war, so he won't get blisters in combat.

I'm with you. I was there in the beginning, at age 13 already a bit too old to be buying toys. I was a bit of TF snob at first because I totally dismissed Beast Wars as stupid, but in the end it was TM2 Megatron, Tigerhawk, and Cybershark that brought me back into collecting the first time. People gotta fan the way they want to fan, but for me I'd rather take the toys on their own terms first rather than require they fit my preconceived notions before giving them a chance.

Ugh, that Red Alert has got to be the worst Netflix Repaint yet. Why couldnt they just make him Clampdown instead ?

Painting holes and cracks instead of molding them looks terrible 98% of the time. I can forgive it on AU Optimus because it's so hard to see anyway because it's done on dark colors.

Here it looks like a kid went to town on his toy with a sharpie.

AFAIK this was never their original intent. Since the WFC cartoon was getting released after Siege ended, they had to come up with a way to get the main characters back onto shelves to coincide with the cartoon (not that some of them ever left). I don't even find the "show accurate" deco to particularly show accurate. It is just an excuse to put essentially the same decos in stores with enough of a variation to entice completist collectors (along with the backgrounds).

I don't like this one either, but other ones were done masterfully.

AUOP should have gotten a cracked window in my opinion.

Yet more, badly applied \"cr@pple-damage\" paint.  It looks amateur.

    Easy pass.

I almost feel like Netflix is letting them take a mulligan on how bad the battle damage in Siege looked: “see, it can look good!” (I thought the Seige battle damage was almost uniformly completely awful)

I’d also imagine they have a slightly larger deco budget since the molds are paid for at this point.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I do think there have been some good battle damage paint apps. I just really don't like when there are painted cracks and holes since the lack of sculpting to go with it makes it looks so cheap.

Now, I'm not a fan of it, but the cracks on Siege Soundwave look great because I believe they're tampographed on. The cracks on Red Alert's windshield looks like a few lines drawn with a silver sharpie.

Likewise, all of the battle damage paint on the regular Siege Megatron is terrible due to just being silver splotches without a care for how they're placed or shaped. The ER version's battle damage is much more realistic due to being focused more along edges and other prone-to-wear spots. The Netflix Megatron is mostly okay for looking like paint wear (and the crotch plate looks like realistic paint chipping), but those chest scratches just don't look good. Thankfully, there is a reprolables set with nice, silver stickers to cover that up.

Agreed. But the Netflix line are the hardest exclusives to get, so it's kind of a good thing that most of the characters were already released in the mainline and the decoes don't have any real appeal.
