As much as I would much rather have G1 reissues, my urge to get these gets larger every time I see new pictures. This style of G1 box with the headmaster displayed was fantastic.

It'd be really nice if Hardhead actually came with his second rifle that's shown on the package art...

Australian fans: any word on who\'s stocking the Retro Headmasters in Australia?
I\'ve checked Mightyape and EB Games and there\'s no listing, and it seems unlikely they\'ll be at Big W or Kmart. Any ideas?

Yeah I can't see these showing up at my store. We get new Transformers but not retro or certain things.

    Look good!

    I wish they didn't reuse G1 boxart, that's misleading.

Not really. You are able to see the toy inside, and doesnt show the G1 toy anywhere on the box. Nowhere does it say its the 80's toy, and its been almost 30 years since the originals were on the shelf. We are past the point of mistaken identity.

tbh, I think its better than reissuing toys from the 80's that are bricks compared to these, but thats just me.

I'd like another Brainstorm. Each one has been unique. I dig Hardheads, but this one is too much like the others to really draw me.

But why not come up with new boxart that looks like the actual figure?

I don't buy G1 reissues, so I'm in full agreement with you there. I just don't like this mix n match.

Because the retro boxes are, at this point, the best part of the originals. I personally REALLY like the box. They altered it to have the new figures on the top, and I think it looks really nice as a display piece.

Im sure theres some stupid weed head retro-loving milenial who will think he is buying the actual vintage G1 molds. With that being said, I agree CHUG is better than bricks. I dont need these cuz I got both the Hasbro versions and Takara versions. These are kind of weird. Theyre the Japanese animation heads/decos but in toy accurate colors (kind of) If I bought them, It would be a stupid impulse buy on my part. I dont care about box art.

You live in a dead zone if you haven’t seen any of those at retail yet.

Are there any differences beyond box art for these over the TR versions?

You know, I was really trying to not buy these, but seeing that Chromedome in his box reminds me of the one I had growing up - he was my only Headmaster and one of my favorite TF toys ever. I'm worried I'm gonna cave in if I ever see him in person. :lol

Interesting. I haven't seen them. The section at my Wal-Mart is still pretty bare after Christmas.

Takara heads and new decos. They've been buried for ages now in the other thread, but here's the comparisons Ishikawa sunday posted on Twitter.

    0-1.jpg 0-2.jpg 0-3.jpg 1-1.jpg 1-2.jpg 1-3.jpg 2-1.jpg 2-2.jpg 2-3.jpg 3-1.jpg 3-2.jpg 3-3.jpg

PrimevPrime did reviews of everyone but Hardhead as of right now.

Brainstorm- wing fins are flipped otherwise seems to be fine
    Chromedome- everything seems fine
Mindwipe- possible bobble head issue and loose legs otherwise fine.
