Because as long as actual g1 reissues continue to sell for the prices they’re marked at then there is a market for them

While I agree, your viewpoint lacks a crucial detail - price-controlled quality.

In the 80s, there was more budget for extravagant things like diecast, hefty plastic, loads of gimmicks. Today, u get ur articulation, but u also get hollow limbs, clip-on wheels, horrible gray plastic shades, etc.

Anyway, the retro vibe of these is a bit of bait and switch. Like selling Earthrise Optimus in G1 box. You could... But why? It's a weird mash up, imo.

It’s not bait and switch, nobody that actually sees these thinks they’re g1. These are no different than the retro black series, retro marvel legends or retro gi joe.

Nah. Sell Earthrise in G1 boxes next. If customers pay extra for G1 boxes, y bother re-tooling G1 releases?

I know they can do both, but I believe in corporate greed. That means doing the cheapest option for more money.

I dont think G1 releases r done; i think these G1-ish TR releases points out that Hasbro has a plan to look for alternatives. Same thing happened with Hero Mashers and other releases: Hasbro was looking for a way to make TFs cheaper to produce. These toys flooded discounters and replaced Generations products in TJ Maxx, Marshalls, etc. Hasbro reduced TF production and increased non-converting TF production. I could be wrong; i dont work for industry or have insider knowledge. Its just my opinion and expetience over the last few years... :)

IDW Brainstorm doesn't wear a faceplate during MTMTE #33. In Regeneration One, could He possibly to have a removable face mask with mouthplate just like Animated Optimus Prime and Movie Optimus Prime.

    Old people could be confused.

I think even some fans will be tricked! These LOOK like G1 toys.

They look no more like G1 toys than retro black series looking like old Kenner toys, retro marvel legends looking like toy biz figures or retro gi joe looking like a real American hero figures

Ok, I admit that I am wrong on this crap, even though my opinion won't matter anyways.Every since Hasbro revealed this line there has been some confusion and agruments on this and since I know that this is a separate line it does confused some fans since the packageing is G1 inspired or almost a 100% replica of the original packaging.I also admit that I was confused and upset about this.Like I said before , I will pick these up because I missing most of them.I mean like before they reveal that these would be TR reissues.

I wasn't excited about this line until I saw Mindwipe...brings me back to getting him in 1987

@Pixelmaster said there are only two waves. Though, I would like to propose, if this sells well, Hasbro will most likely recognize, and continue with the retro packaging.

Both sides equally balanced takes of which I agree 90% each.

The boxes (the grid fonts are really timeless)and its clunky photoshoping the new heads is kinda lazy. Cash grab? O verily! And those recent releases have serious QC issues. maybe the molds are so worn out (remember Piranhacon? or the G1 Conhead's decals won't even stick). But there will always be a market for the G1 figs, heck, if the KO market is any indication, there is a market for those clunky lovable bricks.

Going to save these to open on Christmas.

Or not, this time it’ll be easier to keep em sealed while enjoying the TR figs.

I don’t really get the point of this. Titans Return sold really well didn’t it? Is there much demand for figures that most collectors would presumably already own?

Man, I would ABSOLUTELY triple-dip on Skullcruncher/Skullsmasher if they released him in this line.

These have the Japanese Headmasters instead of the ones that came with the original Titans Return US releases.
