I will check them out as soon as they hit the shelves. I remember some of them back in the late 80's.

I thought these headmasters were reissues but they are new sculpted figures in reissued boxes

And always thought Hasbro should use G1 style art packages/boxes for their updated G1 figures
so, I think its great Hasbro is using reissued boxes for their new figures

and when I see them in person, its going to remind me of being a kid in the 80s

What? These are the Titans Return/Legends figures, just in new colors. No new sculpting at all.

It seems odd to release the Japanese versions in American/English boxes. I would have preferred either the original American Titanmasters or G1-styled Japanese/English boxes.

I was wondering that too. I don’t think they can gouge us too much. Most likely 24.99USD.

Do we have any reason to believe they will change the rubberized plastic on some of these?
Weirdwolf is well known to have breakage issues.  I would hate to have everyone purchase him again, only to have the same problems occur.

They are the Takaratomy version heads under the Legends line released a couple of years ago. FYI.

Read the fucking front page for God's sake.

"These are reissues of the Titans Return Headmasters with a new G1-inspired deco (by artist Emilano Santalucia) and the remolded heads used with the Takara Tomy releases, plus a new retro-style packaging. Wave 1 consists of Chromedome, Hardhead, Brainstorm, and Mindwipe. These figures will be Walmart exclusive items in the US. Listings should be up anytime soon, so be ready to order them when they are available."

Sorry, unless I've totally missed your meaning, this is just completely inaccurate. Yes, they keep the core cast cycling through too much lately, but in the last 5-6 years we've gotten a wealth of ridiculously deep cuts: Crosshairs, Impactor, Cog, Sixgun, Spinister, the Rainmakers, all the Diaclone homages in Selects, Rotorstorm, Terrorcons, Horrorcons, Powerdasher homages, upcoming Battlechargers, Stepper, Duocons, Technobots, Decepticon Targetmasters. Many of those characters have hardly had any characterization in the history of the franchise, particularly in the US were the S4 cast got 3 episodes and a 4 issue Marvel Limited Series.
have you guys really looked at the original G1 Headmasters in a long while? they are really, really not fantastic. Badly proportioned blocks that barely transformed. (and I played the crap out of my brother's Hardhead figure as a kid, sre he was rad in 1987) - the new ones are soooo much better, except for maybe Brainstorm who has way to much vestigial Blurr left over.

I love that stuff from a historical standpoint, but objectively, this seems so much better: awesome figures in awesome packaging. (they've just never topped the G1 boxes)

These look nicer than I thought. I would pick them up if I see them.  A definite pick up for me would be the Punch/Counterpunch, Misfire, Topspin, & Twintwist.  Never saw those at all.  I have all the others, so if I find them, I would get them in these new box art.  Transformers in general are really popular in my area and if you see a figure you like, you should get it then an there, otherwise you miss out.

I don't collect reissues for their stellar posability. Like you said, it's a historical context, the ability to experience first-hand the figures I was too young to appreciate or afford when they came out. I agree that modern figures are almost always better than G1, but that's why I collect both. One for quality, one for nostalgia. These are great for people that didn't pick them up the first time, but none of the Headmaster characters were particularly hard to find in Titans Return. All but one were available in early waves, which shelf warmed like crazy. Brainstorm was an exclusive, but he was one of the easiest Walgreens exclusives to find. Failing that, he was available online for a long time. I think he even went on clearance at one point.
Everyone has different means and priorities when collecting, and I acknowledge that. From the perspective of a financially independent, completist adult collector, G1 reissues would be much more valuable as obtaining them on the secondary market is much more costly than any TR figure.

Where is this place you live in which all these awesome people dwell? I'm surrounded by dudes whose only idea of a good time is shooting things out in the woods.
