At first I was going to pass on these but they look really good. I've gotten all of the Walmart reissues up to this point (Blaster should be arriving any day now) so these should fit right in.

I feel ya'. I don't usually harp on retailers too much, but frankly Walmart.com all too often proves to be a big waste of time. Delays, random cancelations on items still up for preorder like Elita, and in the end people who preordered usually get their product well after the figures start showing up in the actual stores (just ask the people who preordered the Ghostbusters). Sadly just not worth it.

Except we've been slowly transitioning to a world where only the core cast ever gets toys, with a few outliers based on "classic" characters that have plenty of source material to draw from.

You don't need a bio on Optimus Prime's box, no Bee, Megatron, Starscream, etc...

Harhead was my favorite of the TR deluxe Headmasters. He has lots of posts on which you can attach multiple Titan Masters. Cool vehicle too.

I'm calling BullShtuff. Hardheads package art shows him with two guns (like he's supposed to have) but the figure only comes with one. ....Good thing I bought some 'extras' when they went on sale a few years back. ...

Seeing some backlash from the reissue community. Apparently, some fans feel switched and baited into thinking these were actual reissues? Ooookayyy...

I don't know why anyone would be opposed to better figures in the sweet retro packaging. AND it's a great way to re-issue some hard to get figures, and I really hope this is a success and they follow through with some of those hard-to-get TR figures. (Jumpstarters/Misfire/Perceptor)
MSRP on Titans Return was $17 (it went up at the beginning of Combiner Wars)
yep, I passed on Chromedome in TR because of the ridiculous batwing IDW head, this version looks so much better. but this set is awfully tempting, as many have said, just to have MISB.

Only bummer from my end is those quad-lingual boxes really try hard to ruin the look. (something I deal with at work is making 4 and 8 language packages, so hard to put that much copy on a box and avoid it feeling like a "wall of text")

Yea, personally I love the idea behind releasing modern figures in retro packaging. This set is tempting, decisions decisions haha

That's what scares me, I know I'm gonna get these in hand, I'm gonna want them inbox.
Same, I think I'm gonna buy two, display 1 inbox and 1 out of the box if we do the whole retro box thing.

don't feel switched and baited, just an interesting decision. there was a precedence with all the other g1 reissues exclusive to walmart until now.

Not surprising. I feel like this happened before when people thought Hasbro was going to reissue the G1 Dinobots and got the movie ones painted up in classic colors instead, but I long suspect that Hasbro has discovered that resurrecting 30 year old toys isn't in reality cost effective and also that the vast majority of people buying these retro lines really prefer that the product looks and homages the retro without actually having to be retro.

Going back to the earlier discussion in this thread, I suspect that is the main reason for the lack of bio cards on modern packaging, with Hasbro more focused on having worldwide packaging that is still aesthetically pleasing instead of having the back of the box be a jumbled mess of text (rather than the other theory of Hasbro just flat out hating fans and being too cheap to do it like some here would like to believe).

Starscream with a Megatron accessory or Targetmaster Hot Rod without his Targetmaster or Optimus with 2 guns and no trailer weren't exactly retro accurate either.

It's interesting how they've modified the artwork to reflect the new heads. It's nearly seamless.

Even though I don't collect original G1 toys, I honestly think it would have been better if they'd reissued the G1 Headmasters. Those are really expensive figures, right?

Yes, though Walmart and Target kept charging $15 until Power of the Primes.
