Yep, tons of people will say that, very few will actually follow thru.

I never realized how cheap toy buyers were until I had switched my main eBay sales from toys to DVDs about 15 years ago. I thought a bunch of non-paying bidders was an ebay thing, and it turned out to be a toy buyer thing.

I actually same issue selling laser jet toner cartridges. I found out other sellers of same item were buying them or bidding them sky high then play games to keep you from relisting them so theirs was only one on there while you awaited payment that never came. Same person(s) would have several accounts.

I want the protected devy since this has been such a clusterf**k for months. I'd print this photo of the stock and display it right next to the ruined, sealed box.

Its good to see them on an end cap. There is hope for big stock later.

I don't need know why people keep harping on prices. A single action figure is $8-12.. a single transformer is usually in the teens. A sizable figure of anything is going to be 20-30 bucks. Here you have a full set of figures for about 3x the cost of one good sized figure. Combiner sets were over $100...

Under $80 seems reasonable for what it is relative to other things on the shelf.

there is no valid argument for complaining about the prices. idk why people come in here to complain about everything. typical tfw. bunch of debbie downers. if i'm ever hyped about something i can always count on tfw to make me feel like an idiot for being hyped.

After doing the calculations on the inflation calculator sites. I can see why the figure are the amounts they where. Heck according to one of the inflation calculators they had Devy being a few bucks more then the recent reissue.

Something is worth however much you are willing to pay for it. Simple as that. What is it worth to you...If at the end of the day, you are pleased, happy, whatever positive descriptor you want to use about it......then that is good, that is the point, as a positive moment in life is worth a heck of lot these days.

Walmart in Boothwyn, PA had 5 Devys last night. All gone within an hour. Plenty of Starscreams and Hot Rods available.

When I've gone to shows as a dealer, most of my stuff just sits there if it's priced over $10. The $10 and under stuff, though, usually sells pretty well. Those that can drop $100 around here like it's nothing are, in my view, a very vocal minority. Most collectors appear to be bargain hunters.

a lot of times collectors expect you to do them favors and eat costs to do so. it's pretty crazy how cheap some people are.

Ah, I see why - he's selling "Devistator" for $55, because one of those jerk letter swappers swapped out the A and replaced it with an I.

I apologize in advance for the lame joke (I recently signed up for the Action Figure Junkies Facebook group and all I see are photos of Marvel Legends having parts swapped), but yeah, the $55 is probably a typo.

Not sure how this qualifies as "scalping."
The Devastator is less than retail, the Hot Rods go for about $33 (after tax) in Chicago. Making $2 isn't enough to qualify as scalping.

I wouldn't necessarily call it scalping myself as the price of Hot Rod isn't that far off from retail + tax (although that shipping cost might be a bit high, so he might be making a few bucks there). However, I can see why people might be ticked off because he bought so many (likely clearing out the store).

It's also possible that he didn't start his prices at $35, only recently arriving at that price when he realized that the market for these things is hitting saturation, and lowered his price accordingly.

    Just curious...do Wal-Mart employees get a discount?

I still think that the Devastator price is a typo as there's no reason to undercharge, given the upcharge (albeit small) seen with Hot Rod.
