Walmart only charges pre-orders immediately if you use a debit card

Don't worry. You can still pre-order Cosmos at scalpers-making-the-situation-even-worse-than-it-already-is-dot-com collecticontoys for only $84.99 $99.99!

The sad part is, I was actually considering it when I saw the cached price....

Kind of confused about how this rolled out on pulse, I locked in my preorders for Scourge, Road Rocket and Cosmos just after 10am EST despite not having premium.

That's probably why they're sold out already. Hasbro likely botched the release and accidentally opened the listings up to everyone instead of just premium members.

Mine is a master card, not a debit, and it was charged immediately

I've always done Walmart pre-orders with a credit card, and always had a charge immediately.
In my experience, a Walmart pre-order charge usually stays on the card for 2-3 weeks, drops off, then is re-authorized as a new charge within a week or so, and repeats until the product ships. Walmart is the only place I've seen do this. Most other stores do a temporary pre-charge that drops off within hours (sometimes even minutes) and then don't charge again until it ships.

I think it works something like this: Hasbro sells cases of toys to Walmart. Walmart pays $100 (made up number) for the case regardless of the contents. Hasbro packs the case with 7 toys that cost $5 to make and 1 Cosmos that costs $10 to make. So that’s $45 total for the case and they get $100 from Walmart. If they put in another Cosmos they make $5 less per case they sell.

No, it was just premium members at first, I had separate tabs open for Pulse and Walmart trying to get Cosmos. Pulse locked me out as I wasn't premium and sold out under that status.

Then why include him at all then? Why not just repaint a cheaper figure and cal it a day?

if they were going to short pack anybody it should have been Blurr. This is the third repaint of the same mold as the same character. We are getting near Impactor territory here.

Exactly my theory. The cost of the Cosmos molds must be wrapped up in the total case price, but his plastic mass + assembly costs + paint deco make him a liability for anything but 1 per case. :(

That would depend entirely on why he cost $10. If most of that is the tooling, and I would imagine that to be the case because he’s the same amount of plastic and paint as everyone else, it would make more sense to make more of Cosmos to recuperate that initial mold cost.

Maybe an assortment case of eight deluxes shouldn't have five characters in the first place, regardless of which ones are shortpacked. Especially if only one of the shortpacked wave characters continues into wave 2.

Except plenty of us will help another fan out, we just don't agree to paying an extreme amount to assholes who sit on eBay instead of working.

Mind, they may not have known they were getting a wave 2 when it got approved.

And I'm sure that the design team's mindset is "let's squeeze in as much as we can."

Well, the panel is in 2 hours, so the "Cosmos 1 per case" question could conceivably be asked...

whoever does ask, try to phrase it nicely. No "WHY DID YOU SHORTPACK THE F**KIN BEST CHARACTER YOU *****?!"

How about "can you comment on the decisions that went into the velocitron deluxe case assortment? Why 5 characters, and what was the rational in selecting who would be short packed?"
