View topic - Wal-Mart's ROTF Release dates Wrong

According to this guy, the computer lock out won't be removed until the 31st. If true, that really sucks.

In a situation like this, at least considering making a scene with management might be required.

If the box says the 30th, they damn well better override their computers to make it happen.

However, this is one store, and the first we're hearing of this, so take it with a grain of salt folks.

This makes me happy that the only Walmart near me is forever and a day away. All Hail Super-Target!

No, but seriously...that is kinda...odd. Wouldn't Walmart want to have its shelves stocked with high-demand items the day they are released?

That's really random business practices there. Perhaps the fear of breaking street dates has gotten to them. The fear of Hasbro has been put into them.

I can't imagine there's any fear of Hasbro. When the first movie toys kept getting put out early, Hasbro's response was, "Well, go ahead and sell them... but JUST the wave 1 & 2 Deluxes. Winkwinknudgenudge."

Hah. I can see it now.

"You don't play ball our way, we won't send you any more shipments of our Star Wars stuff!"

"NO! YOU CAN'T DO THAT! HOW ELSE WILL WE GET THE HIGH ROLLER NECKBEARDS IN?! OUR SHELVES WILL BE BARE! I mean...we cover every inch of what we have with Star Wars somethin'... you'll be cutting us off at the knees!"

"That's the price you pay, bitches."

    :lol

This doesn't bother me too much. The only things I needed to specifically go to Wal-Mart for were their Skywarp and Ramjet exclusives. The rest, I can buy at Target or TRU.

A number of places haven't received RotF figures, not just Wal-Mart. At least four of the Targets in my area haven't gotten any RotF stuff in yet either...and those are just the four that I could check with the keypad scanners.

It doesn't bother me at all. My Wal Mart won't put them out till a week or 2 after the date (this is based on the 2 week delay with putting out the last movie toys).

If my Walmart doesn't have them out on the 30th, I'll just drive right down the street to Target. The deluxes are a little cheaper there, anyway.

    They waited two weeks?? WTF?

Wal-Mart's known for silly shit, but that's....

Unfortunately, a lot of folks are faced with my situation (I.E. living in a small town, closest TRU or Target's a good distance away) and relying on Wal-Mart is pretty much all you can do.

There's a K-Mart here, but they're absolutely worthless. They'll wait and wait to get new stuff in, way after Wal-Mart has sold out for months. Oddly though, they'll get the cases of the rare and hard to find stuff. It's just few and far between.

Target and TRU are a 45 minute drive from my house (on the interstate, not counting city driving) and it's just not worth the trip if they've been picked clean like the bones of a roadside carcass before you get there.

That's why I got to TRU and Target BEFORE they opened when the Movie stuff hit last time, it might've been a decent trip away, but I got first pick.
