Has anyone ever seen them actually getting filmed? I know there was the Smartcar footage but there were no physical cars to verify that was actually them causing that.

Bay said in that press release that they weren't going to be returning and while that could be misinformation, it could be in a reverse psychology kind of way. Like having the alt modes on set (but not filming them of course) people would think that they are in and he was lying but he was really telling the truth and had the cars there for some attention grabbing.

It just doesn't make sense that Hasbro would allow them to be in the movie again after all of the negativity they started up. I can't imagine them thinking it would be good from a business standpoint since there are probably plenty of people that wouldn't see the movie if they knew they were going to come back (I know a few...)

Sorry for the sort of wall of text but I just had that thought and I really don't remember anyone saying they saw them being filmed at all.

While they're not popular in the fandom (I happen to like them), I'll bet they're popular with kids. Therefore, I think it's safe to say we'll be seeing them again in some form.

We did see Barricade when they were filming ROTF, and he wasn't in the movie. They could have done the same for the twins. Except that the twins we saw were new cars. Barricade was the same one from the first movie.

They'll be in it. Even if they're demoted to Jolt-like status, they'll be in there to advertise that new car model.

But if they became background characters with no lines or real purpose then wouldn't that defeat their whole purpose in the first place?

That's an awful lot to go through just to throw off the fans. These are new cars and new paint jobs. That's a nice hit to the budget.

Only to advertise the cars, like he said. But I would assume they'd get some lines, just for the kids.

... Or, maybe they show up in robot mode in the chicago scenes?

Getting two new vehicles with different paint jobs is going to a great length to trick the fans. I doubt Hasbro would pass up a chance to make more money with these characters. Yeah, they created some controversy, but not EVERYONE hates them. The ones who did have a problem with the twins were more vocal about it.

So far all we have is cars but not their alt mode. Since it's the same car type and some of the same colors we are taking a guess that it's the Twins from last time.

We might have guessed wrong though and it could be two new characters that share the same car mode but aren't like the Twins at all. I mean it's not like there has only one single set of twins in the entire history of Transformers. It's also not like Transformers have ever shared the same alt modes in Transformers history so it could be a film nod to repaints.

Given how the Twins sort of fizzled out after a while as toys I'm sure Hasbro isn't too crazy on having to make more toys of those two in the hope that they might sell.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that. We had the Barricade figure in the ROTF line, he wasn't in ROTF. We had Breakaway right off the bat, he wasn't in it. We had a yellow Rampage...he technically wasn't in the movie with all the theories on Devastator.

For all we know, Hasbro would make them both the same alt, with the new paintjob seen in the pics, and Hasbro would slap some new name on them, and they not even be in the movie.

Best thing we can do...just wait for the movie.

There was some footage of, what we are assuming to be the twins, being filmed in a big scene with all the other Autobots and the new firetruck driving into some lot, possibly a NEST base.

So they are probably in the film. The question still is how much of it?

Hopefully, they get atleast 4-5 lines, and show up in a few fight scenes. I get harrassed all the time for liking the twins, but I couldn't care less. I thought they were pretty funny in RotF despite naysayers, and I really like their toys, so I just hope they don't get shoved aside completely like Bay says.

But here's another theory. Bay might have taken the critisism of the twins seriously, and said that they were "basicly gone", but actually kept them. I bet they still have a decent amount of lines and scenes, but Bay probably toned down their language.

    That's what I'm hoping.

Most of the kids I asked hate them. Pity, really; after finally getting to watch the movie, the Twins *GASP* weren't even that bad. Still wouldn't want them in the new movie, but hey.

New versions of their characters as toys are almost guarenteed.

Barricade, Brawl, Jazz, and Blackout all got repaints or toys very similar to their original forms in the ROTF toyline. So if the Twins don't come back it doesn't mean they won't get their toy treatment.

I'm just worried about their physical appearence in the film. I really liked them even though most I know don't. I would hate it if they didn't come back (won't stop me from watching but I'd be pretty frickin disappointed). I guess they could just have very few scenes in alt mode.
