With no news about a potential Meteor Reissue I'm wondering if I should just get a MP-11 KO and call it a day. And if I go the MP-11 KO route which one should I be looking at, the Yes Model?

    Thanks

Just ask around if anyone is selling their Meteor.

I'd wait until after E3. Takara has to be working on a new MP seeker.

They have already sculpted starscreams head

If Maketoys can come out of their slump I have problem believing they'll reissue Starscream. But that's iffy.

I would bet Takara is, but the price will be pretty high. Probably over $200 a seeker.

It's not really a great time to start collecting MP Starscreams... Maketoys is down, probably out. The MP11 mold is so old now I really doesn't fit in anymore, and Takara hasn't shown any signs of releasing a seeker V3. A head accesory for MP-44 really isn't a enough to conclude anything.

I'm in the same boat... sorta. I still need a MT Thundercracker and Skywarp.

I'd get the KBB over YM, but both are probably superior to the official. I wouldn't count on a Meteor reissue though.

Any specific reasons you like KBB over YM?

YM has modified channels for the torso to hold. KBB has a longer peg and I think that's the more secure route. The KBB comes with the coronation set and extra Null-rays too, not sure if YM does or not. I've owned several official MP-11s and my KBB Skywarp destroys them all in quality. I'm sure the YMs are good too but I know the KBB is solid, so that's my recommendation.

None of the above wait for a Takara seeker 3.0 (or the inevitable KO if you must...)

edit: or maybe a future FansToys or XTB version. This said as owner of both mp11 and meteor

I have the opposite recommendation, based on my personal experience. I would go YES Model over KBB, no question. I have had all 3 (official, YES, and KBB). KBB feels cheap and their plastic quality is way below the other two products. I had a leg literally just fall off while standing the figure up. The plastic is so soft and cheap, it is not worth the time or money. The Takara is solid, but floppy. The YES Model was awesome, tight, and felt very solid. Please don't waste your money on KBB. Research it more and you will find they have issues frequently.

Oh, I also had Meteor and sold it. The head is to small for the figure and looks "off". In hand, this is only magnified. I had one for lIke 6+ months and every time I looked at it, I just wished the thing had a different head, felt it looked messed up. Don't get me wrong, the body is pretty awesome, but the total experience doesn't work, imo. I stuck with the Toys-R-Us release of MP-11 Starscream with the Takara head (have both versions), as I liked the colors of the body on the TRU, but liked the more metallic or glossy look to the Takara head.
People say MP-11 is getting old, which it is, but it is still an awesome representation of Starscream.

I wouldnt. Not only have the KBB's had a lot of quality issues (breakages, crumbling/brittle plastic), but they have toy decos on top of that. Plus, they are rehashes of the older igear versions and have incorrect waist panels as compared to the actual MP-11 molds among other differences. Having had both, Yes Model are far better overall.

I have the KBB Thundercracker ko, I was satisfied with it until the fingers on the left hand broke. Purchased the KFC articulated hands, when I installed them I noticed they were a really tight fit, so I twisted and applied pressure while still trying to be careful enough...and the left arm broke. The end result is that now Thundercracker is forever in plane mode, waiting to be put in storage when I'll need to make room for new toys.
I also have MT Meteor and while not perfect, I'm satisfied with him. He looks the part (despite the face being too dark), he is posable and transformation isn't frustrating. Given the current state of Maketoys I wouldn't hold my breath for a reissue, though, and I wouldn't pay inflated prices on the second hand market.
As others mentioned, it's hard to imagine Takara not making a new Starscream sooner or later, so personally I would wait for that. It's not going to be cheap, though.

KBB seekers are ticking time bombs. They should be your last resort, or if you can get them for less than $50.

At this point go Yes model. Maketoys is done imo. This shutdown was the nail in the coffin for them. Too bad we’ll never see the rest of their headmasters
