I'll start with I think Voyager Dreadwing is a pretty good figure. It does have some things that I'd like to revise so here we are. Part one of Remove the Derp! involves the dino DNA catching amber piece that sits just behind the canopy. The concept is that you can attach the DerpTech weapon to the top of the plane. I'm sure that's great for kids, but for the adult collector in me it's a pointless hole on top of my plane. Gotta go. Also the amber plastic is OK but not my favorite. So I've modeled the piece and printed it in black because I think that's better than amber. I'm also going to try to model something of a tiny cockpit so it's not just this giant slab of plastic. At the moment the (invisible) canopy doesn't open but I may address that too. A few adjustments needed but working out really well so far. The hole needs to be increased some but it's almost there. Not bad! Part 2 will replace the rubber nose cone.
Definitely looks interesting, though it really needs full body progression images so we can see what it looks like before and after each stage.
go for it. Overall, Dreadwing is a decent figure. The only thing I kinda dislike are his hands. I prefer them semi-curled.
Good point. I'll make sure to do that when I get further along. One of my desires is to come up with new forearms to fold the hands aways. I *think* the open hands will be helpful to me but we'll see. I have and I've spent a quite a bit of time mulling over this. The difficulty is the rubber has been fused with the plastic that makes his eyes and the back of his head. I think a solution would require an entire new head and neck base. I agree. That's what started me on this project. Here's a new print of the cockpit. Light sanding, no finishing yet. After thinking about the cockpit I really wanted to see how much tiny detail I could actually print. I'm pretty impressed given the small scale. Finally got the weapon port the right size. I definitely need to get a working canopy now or this detail won't even be seen.
There's something about that yellow I just like that makes me unable to even think about getting rid of it, I can't explain it. The soft plastic is annoying, but doesn't bother me nearly as much as it does other people. The hands thing though I have to agree with. Still nice work on this, sleek and professional looking.
