interesting - I had never noticed the missile launcher being rectangular instead of square when viewed from the front. About half these models (including the Bandai and Yamato) have a square shape, but others don’t. I wonder which is more accurate to the anime, or if it was inconsistent in the source material, too?

Also, which is the model third from the right of the first photo, next to the Hi-metal R? Is it a Bandai 1/20 kit?

Probably just depends on which animation still/frame or even depends on Okuawara's source-drawings moods or something.

As such, here are some snapshots from EP-11 Counterattack of the TV series:

Yeah. It is Bandai's 1/20 RSC kit.

Just way too lazy to properly detail it myself...

what do you think of the Hi Metal-R overall? I’ve seen some Japanese YouTube reviews and have noted the unpainted finish and impressive torso / shoulder articulation.
For context, I have the Yamato 1/12, Takara dual model zwei Scope Dogs and the ThreeZero Rabidly Dog. I'm debating if it’s worth paying about $190 for the HM-R. Thanks!

Does that $190 include DHL shipping already?

I'm asking coz, for comparisons, I paid around $183 for mine with DHL shipping from amiami preorder.

As such, I think the HM-R Scopedog is a fine and worthy toy for $190, only if that already includes shipping-fees.

Of course, it's up to you if a $10/$20 difference or so is enough to bite into the HM-R.

As such and imho, the HM-R is a quite better than either the Yammie 1/12 and the DMZ 1/18 with regards to the rather more updated and modern shoulder-mechanisms and stuff.

The unpainted (or rather, minimum detail) finish is fine and doesn't bother me.

It's actually slightly much better than both the HM-R Dougram and HM-R Soltic.

    Bottom line is:

The HM-R is quite robust, nicely-tight, and handles really very well as a toy for dynamic posing and solid sturdiness, as well as a nice display piece.

The only real issue with HM-R is that Bandai's being such a d*ck about it regarding the rather high pricing and the limited availability/distribution, forcing the secondary market to jack the pricing even more accordingly.

I don't own any ThreeZero votoms, so I don't have any comparative opinions with it.

The exchange-rate is quite low right now, so maybe its even lower now than the $190 you were quoted before.

Thank you for the detailed feedback on the “feel” and playability of the piece. Indeed, the wobbliness and bad balance of the prior Scope Dogs is my main complaint with the 1/12 and 1/18 models. Would love to repose the item without fear of limbs dropping randomly.

And yes, $190 inclusive of FedEx shipping. $200 is definitely my hard stop for a 6” toy!

btw, this reissue is suddenly shipping now instead of July/24, so check your account if you were able to preorder it a couple of weeks ago...
