There has been a lot of going back-and-forth about which MP-scale Cliffjumper is "the best." Especially with the impending releases of XTB's and MMC's versions, which both look awesome.

This is not a conversation about which one is "the best." If you want to give reasons, say why you prefer it.
Alt mode?
Scale?
Head sculpt?
Price?
Die-cast?
Ease of transformation?
Just because? (which is a totally reasonable answer)

NOTE: I've included some unorthodox choices here in the interest of completeness, because any ~5-inch version can work if that's what you're into. Hopefully everyone's preferences are covered. If not, sorry, bro. I can't read minds. Just write a comment with your preference. We'll read it. No one is out to get you.

 

I'm patiently waiting for a MP CJ ( red bee isn't CJ).

I am considering Hellion tho.

 

I went for Toro because the head and chest look the best in robot mode. I would prefer CJ to have a chibbi alt mode but I only display in bot mode so that's really a secondary concern.

I have ACE's CJ from a while back and MMC's lately just reminds me of a more streamlined ACE version and it's not doing it for me. I don't like his face either.

That said, neither of these guys is perfect but for my display, Toro will do until something really amazing comes along to replace him (yeah like that's ever gonna happen).

 

Perhaps, for you and me, it isn't. But just in case it is for someone else, I'm choosing to be okay with that.  

 

I purchased Toro for the overall look and head (HEAD being the most important). Since I only display bot mode.

 

Hey, man. If @TILALLR1 likes the head, then he likes the head. Regardless of what you think the head should look like (Sunbow or whatever).

 

I prefer pretty much every aspect of MMC’s, especially the fully integrated and fun looking transformation. XTBs looks nice but the transformation doesn’t look fun, especially when most of it just accordions into a giant mass on the back.

 

If you look at the animation face like this, head on (How I display in my collection), Toro is spot on.  

Also he matches much better with the rest of my current MP collection  

 

I already have ACE and I don't really care about Cliffjumper enough to upgrade him, so I'll be keeping the "inferior" figure.

 

I like both MMC and XTB all right but I’m going for XTB for now as they’ve been doing so well lately with Crackup and Klaatu and also because looks-wise Toro hits the right chords for me (aside from the backpack). He is a good match for Bee (limbs and proportions) and also turns into a real Porsche. I wouldn't mind a chibi Cliffjumper either if it were G1 looking but I feel like MMC’s is not chibi like the cartoon or G1 toy but rather it’s a third, new chibi vehicle mode...neither real life nor toon. I also dislike Hellion’s long skinny waist and thin arms, both there seemingly to accommodate a silly “Spike can sit in it” feature that I don’t want at all. Having said that, however, if XTBs didn’t exist I would buy MMC’s and be fairly happy I suspect. I may eventually end up with both...

 

Basically, I'm waiting until I can just get Mech Planet HS FLY OVER MOUNTAIN separately. It's more CHUG than MP, but I don't need an MP of such a simple Minibot. And I'll take the elegant simplicity of the engineering as a trade off for the Johnny Longtorso look.

Big difference between the helmet shape and the face sculpt, which I believe, is exactly the point people are trying to make when they say "The face is better on Toro" . I think that was what was said over in the Helion thread when this was posted.

 

Toro for now, but it still leaves a lot to be desired.

I only ordered the Xtransbot one yesterday, and waiting for TFCon to potentially pick up the MMC one. Cant really say which i like best until both in hand.

 

As much better as I think Hellion looks from the side, I think Toro looks equally better from the front. I think I would see his front more often than his side.

Apollyon ruined Xtransbots for me so not buying from them again.....I haven't seen one from Fanstoys coming, so I'm taking a chance on Mastermind creations.

 

one thing makes me decide to choose Toro over Heillion is this pic, maybe Heillion's short legs are not so obvious in red color now.

This black cliffjumper's proportion is ugly --- The upper body is too long and leg is so short.
It's the same height as the FT Seaspray, but the leg is much shorter,
and it's taller than the MP BBB, but the leg is same length.

 

Hellion will be my Cliffy and the comparison pics confirm my choice. It's not even close. Toro just looks ugly to me, especially his face. I can't believe what has become of the promising XTB renders.
