Unicron, Orson voiced him, and he was the first planet former. He needs formal recognition.

    Otherwise, I'd go with soundwave.

Hot Rod/Rodimus was the only other Autobot to ever lead the Autobots outside of Optimus Prime (unless you count the comics) and if it wasn't for him in the original movie, they all would've died so I voted for him. For me it was either him or Grimlock. Grimlock was there through everything from the beginning to the end, and was one of the most entertaining characters in all of Transformers. Not to mention in the comics he was the other Autobot Leader.

I love Soundwave but let's face it, he has very little personality if any. Pretty much all he is is a gimmick. (He's still one of my favorite Decepticons though.) He just doesn't have any depth to his character. That's where Hot Rod/Rodimus beats out all the other candidates.

Jazz gets an honorable mention as a candidate here because he's just that cool and everybody loves Jazz. Nobody hates him and everybody loves him. He's 1 of the most popular Transformers in history. But like I mentioned before, I also weight depth of character in a decision like this and there was never much developed beyond him being a layed back cool cat. Hot Rod/Rodimus is the winner for the simple fact, he was a very well rounded character with so much depth to him.

Soundwave or Grimlock. I dont think Jetfire because he was a copy of the Macross/Robotech Jets. Not an original G1 Jetfire mold.

If you exclude Jetfire because he wasn't designed specifically for transformers then you must also exclude all of the '84 series, and a large chunk of the '85, because they were originally designed for Diaclone & Microman.

I REALLY wanted to vote for Jazz. He is one of my all time favorites, and he is Optimus Prime's Right Hand Man.

    But....

It HAS to be Soundwave. No other choice makes sense to me. Maybe take out Bumble Bee, replace him with Jazz, then vote for Soundwave. Yeah, that sounds Gooooooooddddd.

    Man.

Dinobot is sweet, I've always loved the whole good/bad character complex, and I think watching Code of Hero is the greatest 30 minutes I've ever spent doing anything TF related, but....

Soundwave is just so much more popular and famous....

    1 Vote For Dinobot!

I voted for Soundwave, as I know he'll win, but second place should definitely go to Dinobot.

Nostalgia shouldn't be the only aspect taken into consideration here. Half the G1 characters on the list, in my opinion, shouldn't even be there, as their characterization hasn't been half as good as Dinobot's.

I mean, G1 Jetfire, or G1 Wheeljack? Seriously? People would vote for these guys to join the elite TF Hall of Fame over a character who had more character than the two of them put together?

I would love to see Grimlock overtake 2nd place from Dinobot, it's getting closer.

Incorrect. You can watch the G1 series and see a big difference between Jetfire on screen and Jetfire the toy. Two totally different figures.

Too right, if Jetfire should be discounted becuase his toy didnt match the cartoon, then so should Ironhide/Ratchet(completely different), Megatron(no crotch trigger), Bumblebee(totally different Head), pretty much all the original cast were changed or adapted for the TV show. The only difference with Jetfire was it was probably a legal issue that prevented them from depicting him as a Macross Valkyrie.

This is a great list of toys to choose from and I had to choose between 4 that I had as a kid Soundwave, Jazz, Jetfire & Devastator!! After much thought I had to go with DEVASTATOR because I remeber going to several Toys r Us stores looking for all of them. Wish I had just waited for the boxset but oh well!!! I am suprised that old Dev is not getting more love on this contest but I would be happy with any of these toys being in the first 5 on the Transformers HOF list. Till all are one!!!

I'm surprised Dinobot doesn't have more votes. He's an awesome character.
