And right after this pic the hip ratchet blew out. Doesn’t look like anything is broken and there was no crack or snap, it just looks like the tooth needs to be reseated and closed up again. But to open it I have to remove this screw hole cover on the back that’s flush. Anybody have any recommendations as to the least destructive way to get this out?

I got this from a private eBay seller at a deep discount so I doubt Blitzway’s CS is going to be much help. Most likely it’s fix it myself or bust.

I know some folks have had success getting their KOs apart, so might be worth hunting back through the thread. I haven’t had to disassemble mine, but in looking at the cover in person, it LOOKS like you should be able to apply gentle pressure against the red edge, then use a small plastic parts separator or toothpick to pry it off along the green edge.

Thanks for the tip. I had the same idea but tried to do it from the top edge of the plug. Dig into it with the tip of small knife and opened a divot big enough to get the tip of a spudger in with minimal destruction/scarring. But the plug still hasn’t budged and when I tried to switch to the spudger, all I accomplished was snapping off the tip of the spudger. Now that I look at your markup, your way looks better. I’ll repeat the process on that side and see if I have better luck after work. That’s why I never bitch about screw holes on the back of a figure. If not for that plug I either would have been able to fix it or conclude that it can’t be fixed last night.

Toyshiz reported that Playmates’ Voltron lions are back out, sighted in Colorado at Target.

Makes since that there re-releasing 84. Voltron is getting over shadowed by Transformers but 2024 is also Voltron's 40th anniversary, so if your Playmates you might as well release 84 Voltron that you'll know will sell.

Back out? Were the molds used for a previous release before this?

I’d like to see reviews of this before I think about buying it since I have mixed feelings about the extended proportions on the torso and legs. On one hand, part of me is debating about getting this since I got rid of my Trendmasters Voltron a long time ago and it’d be nice to have another Voltron to replace it. On the other hand, good Voltron figures are a dime a dozen these days. What are your thoughts on this figure?

It's a good toy Voltron...maybe the best one ever made for kids to play with, IMO. It's big (maybe too big depending on your preferences), tough and it looks decent, but it very much feels like a toy (clearances are pretty loose...plastic feels like a Fisher-Price toy...doesn't feel terribly precise...etc.). If you're looking for a "collector" Voltron, it will probably leave you wanting. But as a toy, it's fun. It's just a big tough chunky robot. And, the black lion features lights and sounds from the old cartoon that activate when you push a button on the side of the abdomen and when you attach the other lions. Some people hate that feature. Those people obviously don't like fun, lol. I personally like it. Plus, you can always just turn it off or remove the batteries if you get tired of hearing the play-by-play sound effects. My two gripes with it are: 1) some of the ratcheted joints...tough as they are...still aren't quite up to the task of keeping the combined mode as stable as I would like, and 2) The sides of Voltron's chest rotate when you rotate the arms in combined mode (as opposed to the arm lions simply rotating about the shoulder joint).

Which is exactly why I’m glad WEP opened up to more licensing opportunities years ago. We have options now that we didn’t have 15 years ago during the Toynami/Mattel days. They figured there’s more money to be made when they don’t enable licensees to squat on the license and rightfully so.

We just need Albegas to get some love.
