LJN or Panosh and Trendmasters had it right with their big Voltrons that could combine and also house articulated pilot figures in them

I honestly don't know who I'd want making them. Super7 has a Voltron license (I assume they still have it) and have the potential to do really nice toon versions of the characters...but it's gonna cost $$. Plus, the articulation wouldn't be so hot. I don't know if SHF would ever touch them, but you'd think Bandai could use their Voltron license to pump a set out. Again, expensive, but, the articulation would be there, they'd feel great and they would scale better with more figures in my collection. Maybe they could put out a set in their budget anime action figure line (can't remember the name of it). I'd probably be satisfied with those. But, I'm guessing they would need to sell a bunch of them, and I don't really see LV pilots being a huge seller in the grand scheme of the action figure industry.

I was surprised Bandai of America didn’t get the Legendary Defender license years back and it turned out to be Playmates. I would probably buy BoA Ultimate Legends figures of Lothor, Keith and the space mice. I think it’s well within BoA’s capability of producing a well made combining Voltron toy that could seat those figures too, relative scaling to them be damned. Likely turn out better than Playmate’s Voltrons too, especially if PLEX is involved.

Surprised it sold when it’s coming back out for $100 less later this year

I’d take bandai/shf, Medicom/mafex, Super7/ultimates, even NECA… just give me some pilots (and baddies!). I’m still using the Matty Collector 4” guys from forever ago…

I’d like Ramen Toys to take a stab at them. A complete 6-pack of reasonably articulated 1:18 or 1:24-ish scaled pilots called Universe Defending Lion Riders or whatever.

Big enough to be playable, small enough to not look completely weird standing next to a combined Voltron, a minor enough company that the very niche nature of such a product is a feature, rather than a bug.

It just stinks that most manufacturers treat Voltron like a one trick pony...make an LV and then move on. I understand the risks with Robeasts since there are so many and it might be hard to decide which to make, but the humans seem like low-hanging fruit.

I don't know why Super7 won't do them in ReAction at the very least...Brian loves Voltron? It seems right up their alley?

an employee at the s7 store in San Diego said they won’t do reaction pilots because they would be too similar to the vintage figures. And he said they don’t want to do ultimates because there’s not enough characters that would sell, to even bother with it.

Just bought the Mini Action Toys Vehicle Voltron. Choosing not to display it yet as it is lonely without a similar scale Lion Voltron.

I am trying to make up my mind whether to either get the Super Minipla Voltron or wait months pre-ordering the Action Toys Gokin Series Lion Voltron.

Honestly, I'd wait for the Action Toys. They will probably look better together.

I picked up a set of this series Voltron a few years ago as a Christmas present, for a buddy of mine, and even back then for some reason the red lion was the most expensive one. At the time you could still get most of the rest of them at close out prices of about $15, but the red lion prices even back then were north of $50. I think I finally found one for sale, that was out of the package, for about $40. I don’t know why that one seemed to be the most expensive of the 5, but it was.

And one of the most stolen car color, with higher insurance rates.
Maybe that’s why it cost more. The red lion had higher insurance costs.
I read those space mice were always taking things.

    :D

Probably because red goes faster, so it was the first one to sell out, thus increasing its rarity.

Didn’t Playmates recently announce that they’re going to reissue their ‘84 Voltron?
