Honestly to me the blitzway and chogokin look exactly the same design wise other than blitzways panels covering the lion legs in combined form. The only other difference is the size which does not translate well in pictures if the blitzway is the only thing in frame at the time and you cant judge the scale. If I were to see a pic of those two voltrons alone side by side the only way I could tell which is which is look for the leg panels
Tour of the Bluefin booth at Wondercon in Anaheim this past weekend. Blitzway shown at 22:16. So, y’know, there are at least 2 of ‘em on North American soil right now…
I received mine yesterday via surface after purchasing on Taobao. Had a quick look and all seemed ok but now I'm compelled to do a more thorough check. Fingers crossed!
So is there any set that has the red/green lions that have decently-long necks that enable them to sit upright like the rest?
this review drove home the size difference compared to the SOC much more than any other review I’ve seen.
I'm in Malaysia for the time being. I'm still fiddling around with the Blitzway. I haven't combined him yet, but here are just a few random thoughts: - The legs on some of my lions feel a shade loose, particularly the joint that lets you splay the legs out from the body. Nothing to the point of full floppy, but they don't stay in place if you move the lion around. - The leg panels, especially on the red and green lions, are a pain in the fucking ass to unfold. You need to angle everything just right and kind of leverage them out (when you get it in hand you'll see what I mean) - It's also really irritating that you need a specialized tool to unfold the combined mode shoulder joint from the red and green lion's asses. I'm just leaving both it and the tail out, so both lions look like they have raging metallic erections having just watched some furry porn on X-hamster. - The red and green lion don't have much heft to them at all, which I guess is to be expected. Yellow and Blue are pretty chonky though. The pilots are also pretty neat. Other than that the lions are nice, but i'm still trying to figure out the value proposition of this is over the much cheaper SOC, since i've never been bothered by exposed legs in combined mode. Maybe robot mode will change my mind.
I think it's okay. I mean to be more anime accurate they have to use parts forming like super minipla voltron which we don't want on this one. Neck articulation still good so far. No complaints here.
I missed malaysia, nice and warm... and able to buy figures early Yeah using a tool to transform something is a hassle. But I like the idea. It's new, different from the SOC and I kinda wish threezero did something like blitzway... cuz threezero use the tails as connection ports like SOC... oh well.. Glad to hear your blitzway voltron have no QC issues
Ok. Robot mode is pretty awesome. This is where it definitely shines. The SoC is very much outclassed here.
The chest can't lock like the SOC right? It only use a tab so that the chest can't spin around when moving the arms. The red parts can move to lock it New video review of SOC Voltron. No QC issues this time. But the video is set as age restricted? Okay..
What?.. different in so many ways! Almost every proportion.. the crest..head.. I I mean come on.. one looks like a modern redone 80s toy.. other looks like what I imagined in my brain.. a hero robot.. Blitzway did what the MP line did for Optimus Prime.. .
Yes blitzway is bigger than SOC and threezero. Yes all 3 are classic Voltron design. But the proportions and style is obviously different. We have options now. And options are good Time for lucky cat voltron
Stepping back and looking at the pics of those three figures, I have to pretty much agree with @emoo . Anyone looking at those three pictures with no other knowledge of the figures might be inclined to think they are basically the same thing. And, in my opinion, they pretty much are. There are variations in size, proportions, articulation and minor features, but they all do a great job of looking like an accurate premium Voltron. I’m sticking with the SOC simply because it’s the one I already have and the other two don’t do enough different to convince me that I need them.
In hand is totally different on these things though. SOC Voltron is a WAY better looking toy in person. We get pretty accustomed to looking at two-dimensional depictions of toys. I’ve seen decent pictures of it but every time I walk by my SOC Voltron I am blown away.
Still trying to decide between SOC and Robo-Dou... The last Voltron I had was this "masterpiece" Voltron Masterpiece Edition which got floppy and hard to pose due to having too much metal and lousy joints. That's my fear with SOC, but am I wrong? The last SOC I bought was Dragonzord, which looked BEAUTIFUL but was disappointing as a figure.
The SOC is very unlikely to get floppy. We don’t know what kind if metal distribution or joints the Robo-Dou has yet, so if the looks are a toss up for you maybe wait until the RD comes out and base your decision on reviews. Hard to go wrong with the SOC, its one of the best releases in terms of looks and how it handles. Likewise Three Zero has been making phenomenal toys so the odds of their Voltron being a great toy to handle are very good.
I have no concerns about the durability of the SOC’s joints. The Robo-Dou is an unknown quantity at this point, but I see a lot of people praise that company’s products. So, like @Rewind said, it’s probably best to just hold out to see how the Robo-Dou turns out and hope the SOC doesn’t sell out before then. The aftermarket prices for the SOC tend to creep up kinda fast once it sells out, though. Of course, that might be tempered a bit with these other fancy Voltrons being available. I suppose you could get the SOC now and just keep it sealed until the Robo-Dou releases and then open it or sell it at that time.
My Microcosmos Voltron finally arrived. Out of the box, the face seemed off. I painted the lower eyes with black marker, i think it made it much better.
