The OG Matchbox didn't come with one, but was sold seperately with the star. It seems like it had that guard thing.
The plot thickens! Mofos were nickel and diming us back then too...that stuff shoulda come with the Voltron set...lol...
Did not see that one coming... I wonder if this will be a one-off Voltron product or if new stuff might be on the way? There are a few more Voltron things I’d like to have before wrapping up that collection.
not sure but there's a few things i'd like as well like a lot (and i mean a lot ) of Voltron Force lions
Wonder if they will do any re-tooling. Giving upper arm bicep rotation would be a big plus for the arm Lions, and I'm kind of surprised they don't already have it. Then there's the combined mode shoulder rotation breaking the chest sculpt, but that might be asking too much.
The Playmates 84 really is a solid and good looking Voltron. I've really grown to love it in the time I've owned it. The colors and that voice box really push it over the top for me. Not really surprised it's resurfacing now or even if it resurfaces again in the future. Plus the upper arm bicep rotation wouldn't really be *that* big of a retool. Going to keep my fingers crossed that that at least happens, but won't be surprised if it doesn't. "If it's not broke don't fix it." But what I would LOVE to see is for someone to take that mold and throw another $50 retail material investment into it. Give it proper shoulders that doesn't beak the sculpt, upper arm biceps, better collapsing tails for the arm lions, a better head rotation, canopies for and with diaclone or even Kreon sized pilots, and flesh out the hollowing of all the limb lion's lower legs. But then it wouldn't be this Voltron either which does what it does as good as it does at the price point it does. On a side note......the window is probably gone for this idea ever recurring again, but is there a chance we'll ever see another Matty Collector style Lion Voltron *BUT* done right? A Voltron *with* pilots. Heck, a Voltron *with* pilots *AND* lion legs that disappear into the limbs? A fan can dream.....
I'd like a lot of those changes to this design as well. More than anything at this point, though, I think I want properly articulated 6" scale pilot figures from the 80's toon. I honestly have about all of the Voltrons I want, truth be told, but well done pilots have eluded us. Robeasts would be awesome as well, but, I put the pilots above them in the wants list.
Cool. This one, from 2018? Source? https://patmuseum.wixsite.com/colle...AYMATES-CLASSIC-LEGENDARY-VOLTRON-1984-BOXSET
Id like to see more but I'm betting this will just be a one and done set sold in stores for the christmas season.
Given that source AzT dug up, I suspect you’re probably right. Playmates are leaving money on the table...
I'd love a Vehicle Voltron that would be as tall as the lion Voltron. Yes, I know there is the SOC one. And if we are going insane, throw in a Albegas Voltron as well.
When Voltron is such a simple combination to start, how do you forget to fold down the black lion’s horns?
Inner dialogue I just had: I don't have room for that big ass Voltron again. I said, I DON'T HAVE ROOM FOR THAT THING. ARE YOU LISTENING DAMMIT???? *sigh* We're getting it again arent we?
Not to mention rotate Red Lion's head the other way. Does it rotate the other way? I would imagine it would.
It's not that weird that it's coming back. I made a comment 3 or 4 pages back that 84 was couple of years ahead. Turtles, He-man, Thundercats, Gi Joe, Earthrise TF, retro Ghostbusters, Back to the future, Power Rangers has seen a resurgence in toys and Target has a section full of 80's toys. Everything is 80's, 90's toys because the one's that are buying the stuff were kids and know close to middle age that can buy the stuff we couldn't or get some of the things we had.
