So you save $120? Still $180 for a KO seems kinda steep, maybe I'm TF KO spoiled where it's pennies on a dollar, half price at best. Then again an OG Voltron KO is $160 so maybe it is a good deal though the diff being that the OG at $160 is of good quality reviews vs this SoC KO not having such great reviews
I probably should have qualified my response with, “$300 if you were lucky enough to PO one or get lucky and find one available from a regular retailer upon release...otherwise he’s probably going to run at least $100 more”.
True but if I'm paying over a half the retail price for a KO than it better be legit good-great quality, like Neoarts Feral/Nero Rex, Daban Gravity Builder, or better quality than the original figure like Neoarts Xerxes/Leonidas as examples. Charge me based on quality not based on the original's ridiculous aftermarket price
For the price, I was referring to the total cost when the lions are bought separately since that was how it was sold originally. I didn't know they are now selling it as a set. Bought individually, it will cost a total of around 271USD without shipping. So it was very close to the SOC.
that is horrible i feel for my fellow Voltron fans having to go this rout just to be disappointed or dissatisfied. Yeah reviews have never been more important than when you start talking KOs. I remember reading the Madtoys Voltron review on CollectionDX and he gave it great reviews saying it was better than the MP, but then people got it in and said otherwise, than Icarus got hold of it for a legit release (that has and hasn''t turned up) and people that have gotten their hands on it say the quality has much improved. For me as far as quality goes, as long as it's on par with say Treadmasters/Playmates than i'll be ok, but if it doesn't at least meet mass retail quality than it's an easy pass for me no matter what the price is
Yeah. I like the design. And I'm not bothered by the proportions either (unlike others). I mean a T-rex has scrawny arms too and it's intimidating with its sheer size. This is a robot not a human being, so I'm more forgiving with proportions. Lol I po'd this immediately and now w a i t i n g . . . Lol
For what it’s worth, Rocketpuncharmy’s reviews of the individual FJ lions have been largely positive. I watch a lot of his videos and he seems fairly honest and genuine in general. To state the obvious, if the total price of the FJ version is as close as it appears to be to the SOC, I’d have a really hard time choosing it over the SOC.
I was only aware of the SOC and KO's when the Bandai was long sold out and had sky high aftermarket pricing. I'm not that into Voltron so dropping $45 - $50 here and there for the gradual releases was acceptable. I was already 4 in with the FJ when the SOC was reissued and didn't bother with the Bandai. The KO is good enough for me. Still don't think the FJ are coming out as a set yet re @Flapjacks . Is that what you meant? My FJ lions are pretty much the same as Rockpunch's. The first 2 arms were really good quality and the legs a notch down, but only by a small margin. So all up I'm happy. The proof will be in the final black lion and how well the combined mode holds together. I should be able to get the black lion tomorrow
This is the set being sold: Fantasy Jewel FJ FJ-BSW Voltron Defender of the Universe Full Set of 5 Definitely less than buying them individually.
This looks to me to just a bundle of the 5, sold as one. It's not a box set; sorry if you already knew it wasn't. Maybe they've discounted to motivate purchases as I get the impression these FJ lions aren't selling like hot cakes so to speak
Given the timing with respect to the SOC releases and the piece-by-piece release of the FJ, I don't blame you for going that route. Plus, if the quality is decent and you are happy with them, then that's all that matters.
The little information I've read from another forum about the FJ: - Green lion has the same head as the red lion which should be different from each other. - Voltron's face is a bit off compared to the original (hard for me to differentiate based on photos only) - Black lion's connector to the red lion is too tight that it can end up damaging the red lion. - Gold flaking off the belt area
Thanks for mentioning this. I'll be careful with the connector and may coat the gold before I do anything. The same heads for red / green lion don't bother me but can imagine how it would for others
