Just got that email as well. What a ridiculous way of handling this situation. Just take the first 50 orders at one per household, and let the rest of us know that we missed out.

Seems like a really piss poor way of handling their mistake. If you only had 50 why would you allow your system to take 140 orders. Now make 140 people wait until September to get a chance at paying for one? Ridiculous. Now all 140 will hunt at other places creating duplicate orders and cancelling somewhere else. Just let the first 50 know if they made it. Put the rest on a waiting list and be done with it.
Well at least they are responding ASAP. No one paid up front so you still time to look elsewhere, ex. TfSource.
Does the first 50 PO’s reflect on the order number? If so then whoever placed their PO will more or less knows where u stand
This is Bandai's fault as well as the retailer allowing the system to take over their limit. I appreciate you helping us (the ones still looking to secure one) have a chance at least. It's going to be a dogfight. It's going to the first 50 who pay their invoice quickly regardless of the order it was placed in.
At first I placed blame solely on Bandai but in this case I have to put some blame on the retailer also.
it basically means... what you pre order is nothing. Reset.... and let's start over again... like Black Friday style!
I can almost see not stopping at 50 since they're expecting to be paid via invoice at release and, although this is an exception, many of those could flake when it comes time to pay. I believe @Laser_Optimus has posted before about that happening to him when he had a store. That said, I am NOT a fan of overselling and think it's a recipe for an adversarial relationship. I'd rather have my #120 (guessing) order cut off now than have the #4 preorder cheated because they couldn't get their invoice until after work.
Kidding aside, this is an inexperience store unlike BBTS, AMI, Nippon, and other famous hobby stores out there. They didn't know this product will be such a hit. This is probably their first time encountering this issue and they didn't know what to do but to send us all that email.
They most likely did as they do have the listing for the item for preorder at 49k now from resellers.
And.... just like that my pre-order is likely not going to get me Voltron. As others have already expressed.... this SUCKS.
