Ah, that's what I get for not reading the whole thread. Then yes diecast, a limited run, and a $30 price point doesn't instill a lot of confidence in me about the quality of this line especially since they had to pay for the license vs internally developing the line like MOTUC.
To me, I think it has potential to be a sufficient alternative to the diecast MPC Voltron by Toynami. At 2-3ft combined, and with articulated driver figures and diecast, this thing will be huge, and all 5 lions combined carry the msrp of the MPC. Potential but I need to see how it turns out. This thing is begging for a box set.
Maybe I'll just wait for Voltron Force. BTW, need picz naow! I hate when stuff is revealed so long before toy photos. Makes me antsy.
Let me tell you john, it's infinitely worse. But I'm still excited for these Voltrons! Mattel or not! I'm their bitch! I don't care. Mattel will at least make them. Period.
Well folks, looks like no box set for the huge Voltron Classics Voltron: MattyCollector Q&A Answers April 15th
Those fucking dicks. I hate mattel, so much. They give the option of just being able to by all five individuals in a subscription, but that's cold comfort as you can't do that at retail.
Great.....I hope hunting down all 5 lions isn't going to prove to be a total b*tch. Thanks mattel....for making it sooo easy on everyone. (F***ers)......
I hate to say it, but I hope the classics Voltron sucks. Then I won't feel bad. It's a selfish, silly thing to say but that's what Mattel does to me.
Yeah, this thing is going to have to look really, really phenomenal for me to have enough interest to deal with Mattel's online fuckery. I've had the displeasure of trying to secure a few MOTUC figures through their store and had every attempt fall apart for one reason or another. Without knowing the quality of the toys I'm not really willing to spring for the subscription either. I'm sure BBTS will carry them, so I'll probably end up paying a little more and buying through them. Regardless, I'm not going to panic. Worst case scenario is that I just ignore it and be happy with Toynami's version, which is perfectly adequate. Although I do keep meaning to trade in my diecast version for a plastic version.
Shame on Mattel, I hope all the fans get what they want. I'm going to gently bow out for the eager fans. Any Lion Voltron's enough for me, so I'll wait for the mass-release Voltron Force. I hope their retail distribution beats their DC Superheroes though...uggh.
Why is that so bad? I want a kick ass Voltron and if this is, then I'd rather lock them up with one transaction that stop at TRU twice a week hoping I beat whoever bought every single 4 inch GL figure in a couple of hours. Matty shit isn't the easiest stuff to come by in stores, if they were I'd feel differently.
Hmmm...after reading some of these posts here.....I think I'm going to forgo this unless mattel makes Voltron look so damned good........but odds are....I'm probably just going to get the toynami version instead to replace the cheap one I bought from Kay Bee Toys so many years ago.
