I'm already considering re-selling my set. I need to downsize my collection and focus just on Transformers. Goodbye to Macross, SOC, etc. as well. :/
Funny you say that bc I did that just this morning lol. I'm actually keeping both of my SOC Voltron sets, but getting rid of LD, some TFP First Editions, etc. The SOC's are just too good to get rid of. They are battling for the top spot with my Fans Toys Iron Dibots! Wow those guys are great. I am really impressed with all of them!
I feel the same way. This SOC has fundamentally changed my opinion of toys, and collecting. Few, if any, compare.
If you guys are loving the SOC Voltron, check out some of the pictures of it's upcoming sibling, the SOC Daizyujin aka the MMPR Megazord over in the SOC or Power Rangers thread. It looks like it will be as good as Voltron. I'm really thinking the perfect color matched display will be Voltron, Gad Sigma and the Megazord standing together with big assed swords out.
I actually thought about picking that up, but I'm not a MMPR fan. Myself being a big fan of Voltron and Transformers it's easy to pick up toys bc of nostalgia and the marvel of the SOC and many modern transformers. I'm sure the toy will be great it's just not for me bc I don't have any emotional ties or connections with that show. I do appreciate your recommendation though.
Tell me about it. I haven't purchased higher end toys in a while and after getting and playing with the Soc and comparing it to others in my collection I definitely felt the need to get rid of the lesser quality figures. Don't get me wrong I kept many that have an emotional bearing on me , but quickly packed up those that have been hanging around. I'm more of a quality vs quantity kind of collector. I'm still undecided about the die cast LD coming out although I still have my preorder with bbts.
While I do appreciate the recommendation, I feel the same way. I was never a MMPR fan, and while the SOC will surely be awesome, I can't drop that kind of money on something I am not nostalgic about.
Exactly if you don't stretch out beyond your own nostalgia you leave a bunch of fantastic toys on the table. I always find the nostalgia only collectors interesting it seems a little myopic. Not to mention the interconnectedness of all these brands and toys. Someone pushed a domino in the 60's and it's still going today.
I have to root for Megazord, but admittedly I have no real knowledge of Voltron's feats so I may be rooting for a losing battle if the pre-fight analysis give the right info.
Same. I bought both sets of Biklonz Mecha and Great Goldran simply on the rule of cool. Come to think of it, Gravity Builder as well.
I def understand where you are coming from. A great toy is a great toy, right? So, how many Barbies or Jem dolls do you own? lol Just saying, I collect figures that I want in my collection and bring back great memories. Again, I'm not a fan of MMPR. I know the SOC MMPR will be beyond great. To each their own.
Just a generic statement. Have you seen barbies? They are not cheap. My point is that you collect in your area that you like vs good toys in other genres.
