Wonder if Toy Fair will have us see the smaller combining Voltron figure playmates said they'll release eventually?
So. I got my EX in. I have mixed feelings. On one hand.. he's absolutely gorgeous, and he's huge. Perfect from that respect. But I'm a bit disappointed in lack of articulation. No thigh/wrist swivel, and almost no waist swivel makes posing him in any dynamic poses a challenge. But, he is gorgeous. The paint is phenomenal. Looks similar to what I would do if I had painted him. Definitely has shelf presence
Well first thing's first: I have a very flavorful and radical personality- not many people can tolerate me, so I'm not surprised at all with your reaction. lol 2ndly: You're right about their pricing VS the quality of their products- but that goes back to my opinion that they keep rushing their projects and charging too much for'em, it's pretty obvious they're only in the business for quick money, not long-term customer connections- but I do think if they slowed down a bit, their products wouldn't have the issues they do, and they could rival some of the greatest companies in the toy market- but that's up to them, and they don't seem to give a shit about that- it's like telling a young athlete with great potential, "If you slowed down, polished up your skills a bit more, and really focused developing your technique a bit more- you could go pro and rule the league for seriously long time- but that's not going to happen, soon enough or possibly at all, if you don't slow down and focus a bit more- you want too much too fast and you're not thinking clearly, but it's ultimately up to you."- and Toynami doesn't want to slow down or listen- they're holding themselves back. That's what it looks like to me- because I was taught this way: 1) There's no such thing as stupid questions- ask as many as you can, as often as you have the chance, learn as much as you can, and use it to grow. 2) There's no such thing as being bad at something- there's always room for improvement, and as long as you don't give up, eventually you'll go from decent to good to great and if not THE best, you'll become one of the best- but you can't skip steps, abuse short cuts, fail to listen when you should, and go too hard too fast- and that's where I think Toynami's messing up- they're not slowing down and they're not listening- especially to their customers. All the great 3rd party transformer companies we have today got here with skill, patience, practice, reasonable pricing, and most of all: They listened- they listened to us- the customers- and if you don't listen to us, and give us what we want: It's gonna take you 10 years to hop a few steps forward VS 3-5 years to hop a few steps forward- and Toynami might be producing Voltron products and I'll agree that the EX looks nice, but it could've been more than what it turned out to be if they listened- and that's where they're fucking up. It's a nice product, and personally I'm happy with it, it's enough for me- but I won't deny it's lacking in inexcusable areas- that's true- what everyone else has said is true. I bet they won't listen to a single negative review on the EX that gets back to them, they'll just ignore it, and keep doing what they're doing- because just like a young cocky smartass athlete, they think they know all they answers, they don't need a lecture or suggestion from anyone, and they're going to continue running their business their way, and it'll take'em a fuckload longer to build the reputation they want, gain the customer base they need, and make the money they want- but at the same time: That doesn't mean they'll never make it. They can, but it's just going to take'em longer than it should because they're stubborn and deaf. Because they've refused to listen and polish their process, when it comes to high quality toys, I doubt they're in the top 8 list in any collectors mind- but they could be if they went about their products and process right. They just keep fucking themselves and holding themselves back- it seems that way to me.
I have $20 in TRU reward dollars so I figured I'd run over to TRU and pick up the black lion to get me started. Nothing....absolutely nothing for Voltron there yet. Sometimes I just hate TRU so much.
I was at Target this morning and they had pretty much all the lions as well as the black lion. TRU is a mess though, They pretty much sold out of the voltron stuff they had over the holidays.
Still no sign of Voltron in Canada. Wal Mart's gearing up for a reset, though. However my local Wal Mart recently scaled back it's toy section hardcore, with no room for anything new.
umm.. Not sure what you're talking about, but I have him right in front of me and he most certainly does not. Neither green nor red lion heads can turn/rotate. They get a slight bend one way or the other, but if you want to rotate the heads, you have to rotate the whole lower torso/body. On the thighs, you get again very very slight rotation on the ball joint, but it does not allow for thigh rotation so you can get a forward or side stance with his foot. Unless you're copy is different than mine
Because the original is like a star throwing weapon. The holes allow wind to pass through. It was never used as a shield. The myth of it being a shield is because every toy that came out, makes it look like he's holding a shield.......It is not.
I saw a full set of Legendary Defenders at Target last night. In theory, I don't need it as I have a SoC Voltron on preorder. But BBTS is taking its damn sweet time getting the thing to me and it's making me irrational. Hurry up!!
Yep the cartoon called it a spinning laser blade. Both voltrons had one. Vehicle voltrons formed on his shoulders and that was just a ring with spokes in it its also the same way he formed his blazing sword. Neither of the original voltrons had a shield, in fact the current voltron is the only one who ever used an actual shield. in this clip you see lion voltron toss the spinning laser blade at 1:45 and the 6:00 mark but at the 6:00 mark it is an animation error as originally it forms as a spear , but it is the way he threw it in the rest of the series when he used it.
http://letsvoltron.com/81 Great podcast with Playmate's toys head of marketing discussing the plans for Voltron toys. Paladin's are teased for toy Fair 2017.
I just realized that with the MMPR movie coming up, this might be the first time we've had Voltron and the Megazord, the latter accused of ripping the former off, on sale at the same time.
Wouldn't both have been on the shelves together back during the early/mid 90s with the voltron 3rd dimension
