These Legendary cats aren't just clicky, they're seriously clicky! Hefty too, once combined. I'm almost glad there's no diecast otherwise I might not be able to lift this sucker! Edit: After repeated pushing in and yanking out the arms, I'm pretty sure that video is BS and that they screwed up on the arms. It took quite a bit of effort to insert the arms to begin with therfore unless there's a release mechanism like with the legs, you'll need to use a lot of force to yank it off. There's going to be quite a few disgruntled parents over this issue.
Cool! Thanks for that! I'm going to have to try that when I get back home in few days. Hopefully I'll be able to find a Red Lion soon too.
That really sucks to hear. I had such high hopes for this guy originally too, but that's been dashed against the rocks these past couple of weeks.
Ok people that video of the Stealth EX is my review. The review was just a small review. It was also my very first review. I am still learning. I have been planning to do this for awhile and figured this would be a good start. Yes there are definitely things I need to work on. When I get home tonight I will do a much better video with more detail. The ball joints on the legs are very minimal. They are just there to give the lions more of a cat pose. The legs are ratchets and are very tight. This is still an excellent figure minus the ball joint legs in the combined form. They are still very tight. So I apologize for if I have turned people off of this figure. I will do a new video soon.
You yourself by no means turned me off the figure, and if anything you showed that everything else I expected to see was actually there. That hip design is what killed it for me as ball joints + heavy figures = disaster. That's not your fault, it's the designer's fault, so don't worry too much about it. If you do however focus a little bit more on those hips on your next video though, that would be great.
I will definitely do that. I believe that use all plastic and no diecast to make the ball joints better and last longer. The figure is not that heavy. Ball pegs can get a better range then a ratchet.
Not really. The range on the hips isn't any different than you'd get with a ratchet. And it may not have metal, but it sure looks heavy enough in your video. Plus it's a question of longevity.
I've had enough figures in my lifetime to know that ball joints for the hips will get loose and wobbly in time. Hell, a lot of the new TF Deluxes have loose hips out of the package, and they're light figures. This guy will forever be doomed to stand straight at attention, and that's just a damn shame.
It's talking all my willpower not to order this guy. And excuse my ignorance but can someone please tell me what the big difference is between this one and the Ultimate EX version? Ultimate is what, $100 more? What do you get for that extra money?
No die-cast, a stylized look many may not appreciate, non-ratcheting ball socket kips destined to wear out, less articulation, and less accessories.
It's similar to modern Lionel trains---currently the most expensive, least-accurate brand of model trains you can get.
That is how the torso looked on both the original toy and animation model. It's the Voltron I have always known. Not sure when people started to think of Voltron with big hips, tiny waist and huge chest, almost like it is wearing a corset.
Oddly enough the only Voltron toy I had as a kid kind of had those proportiions. It was smaller then the standard combiner Voltron and had wheels and pullback action and it had the tiny waisted black lion. And it looked as silly as you'd expect it would...
Nah, it's never been that wide. The grey part above the belt and beneath the chest is too big, and I think it's the chest that is off, and it makes the grey part appear too large.
