Wow, with all those talk about new Voltron toy licenses, and the announcemnt of the new Netflix series.. Imma pretty impressed with that Legendary Voltron design thou..
So am I. I just hope Playmates will do it justice. I'm not holding my breath too much though but still I hope they'll surprise us.
I kinda wish they hadn't changed the Blazing Sword. Looks odd to me with the more cutlass-esque design.
Since the show has weapons that spawns from the will of its user it's always possible the classic blazing sword will be part of the classic super robot midseason powerup.
what don't you like about the wings and face? i love both the wings and face. i really like that the wings change positions from down to up. and i really like the face. the whole design is very transformers animated-esque which i absolutely love. it's going to be such a shame if such an awesome design gets a terrible toy. i think this is one instance where i wish hasbro had the license.
I dont like the wings coz they are too similar to the dragoons from gundam...The face kinda reminds me of a galra soldier
I'm really enjoying it so far...its good. The two things that still bother me is I wish they could have stayed with (and maybe enhanced) the original theme music, and I really dislike the turquoise color on Voltron. Reminds me too much of Tron. Everything else is great.
Tron lights are the new "thing." Seriously, everything these days has to have little lights all over it. Transformers, superhero costumes, video game characters, Voltron. I've kinda gotten over them, though the only thing that kinda bugs me is how the black lion's eyes go dark when combined, but no one else's lion does. Obviously on a toy this would likely not factor in. And even if it did, I'd be more impressed with a gimmick that made the eyes change colour when combined than niggled by the inconsistency of it anyway.
I'd still love to see how a Voltron Force Voltron would have worked out. With the changing centers and power-ups associated with each lion. It's pretty much the only thing I liked about VF.
I don't see anything too complicated they could mess up. The limb lions legs probably wont fold away and store like the new toon version and instead just fold up on the bodies like the other versions of voltron which would be fine with me. If Playmates does release a version of this I'm definitely painting the center of the black lions chest red on mine it just seems weird without it. That's about the only thing I really don't like about the new voltrons design
TBF the cartoon totally cheats with how the limbs just disappear. I wouldn't expect Playmates, or anyone, to accurately replicate that.
Had some free time so I'm watching the 1st episode of Voltron. Went into it thinking whatever, I'll just check it out to see...the animation and Anime style humor starts to hook me, then I see some lion action. Whuuu?! Never seen Voltron, let alone any part of him that smooth. Good shit, got me interested...
Really liking the new series and I'm getting used to the new Voltron design. Can't wait to see the toys! hopefully they make each character as well as different sizes for Voltron My youngest son requested specifically for the red lion so this will do for now
Mike who does the Retroblasting web show at one point said that WEP hadsthe toy prototype mock ups in their office on a shelf for that one. Sadly a final product never came to be.
I've been building a Lego Voltron, smaller than that, not as pretty. Was about to order a ton of parts to finish it when I realised I couldn't think of a decent Voltron head so I gave up.
Is it just me, or are the combat sequences with the lions cooler than the ones with Voltron in the new series? Really liking it. Much better show than the original in every way except the music.
