TBH a tasteful autobot/decepticon symbol and a cool color would have been best. No robots on the cover. I want this to sit with other artbooks I have that have tasteful covers.

Also as a side note: It's totally possible to love the bayverse character designs and still not like the movies. Many transformers fans only collect the figures and don't watch any of the fiction, some only read the comics, some people LOVE the movies. We're all different.

I think the Bayverse hits the wrong note for many of us, because of how long we had to deal with it. There were many changes through Transformers history, some we liked some we didn't; but Micheal Bay directed Transformers for 10 years in his own image and now a whole generation believes that is the sum of Transformers. Its not that we can't accept different iterations of Transformers its that we had to deal with Bay's divisive iteration for 10 years.

    10 years

So, for many of us that cover commemorates the iteration of transformers that ruined the live action movies for us, defined it for a new generation, and deprived us of what we expected all along. Something....like this:

    DtHNpTGXgAAW0O_.jpg

who acts like any of these:

    Untitled-1 copy.jpg

but instead we got "I will kill them all," "gimmie your face" sadist Prime, who has more in common with a Mortal Kombat character

Yeah, but he looked a lot cooler than any of those.

But seriously, my displeasure for your general tone and lack of open-mindedness aside, It's a book. Are you planning to sit down and stare at the cover for days at a time, or are you going to open it and read what's inside?

I have no problem with the Bayverse Transformers, they’re not my thing but they brought new blood & more importantly (to me anyway!), lots of new money that has been spent on all the different Transformers series in the intervening years. And for that I’m extremely grateful.

However, while I’m certainly happy to still buy it, I feel (like several others have mentioned) that the Autobot & Decepticon logos should have been used instead on the cover.

Not out of any sense of bias, but other than Beast Wars/Beast Machines, the Autobot & Decepticon logos have been ‘pretty much’ the same since 1984. I simply feel they represent G1, Armada, Evergon, Bayverse, Animated AND several other Transformers series too.

If it’s a book encompassing ALL of the Transformers, & you want to represent the full variety of it, surely you want one of the few things that’s consistent across all the different series, no matter what else changes? (or Transforms, shall we say!)

Fair enough, I'm sure there are wonderful images inside I just wouldn't want to be reminded of the Bayverse Everytime I touch it.

If it's a slip cover, you can probably just take it off.

I said if. I'm not sure if it has one or not, but being a hardcover, it may.

Well to me I'm really excited to get this book cause it is the history of this franchise. Now i know there's going to be parts I'm not really into. You do have to love everything transformers good or bad i think of the franchise to buy this book. I do love the fact that it covers everything transformers in the book, so it's a purchase for me and at the deluxe version on top of that. I really can't wait to see alot of the history of transformers I'm not familiar with and some i know plenty of. Plus,....getting to see some parts of transformers in a different light that i might not like but want to know more about.

I like the Bayverse bots, but really not a fan of the movies. OK, the first one was OK. But I'm a nerd with autism. I don't care for sexy girls. Megan and Rosie with their overly sexual bodies isn't my thing. I think that is what put me off the most from the movies.

I just want to see killer robots turn into amazing aircraft, trucks and muscle cars. That's my kind of porn. That's what I like to see.

So yeah, whilst I'm a fan of the Bayverse toys, the movies are a different thing. Like I said, I'm working my way through the cartoon series and loving it.

My biggest gripe with the books we're talking about isn't the cover or content. It's the weird pricing.

The original link and got to the US Amazon site said the price was $90 for the special edition, fair enough. Translates to £75. But when I actually clicked the link to the US site, it was up for $63(some discount). I'm a Prime member, so I went to check the UK site, it was at £80.

Went back to the US site, signed in, gave my postage address and sure enough, I got it for a total of $70 including shipping (£57). So I got it for a good £23 cheaper by using the US site. That really did my head in.

Anyway, regardless of which version of Transformers you prefer, I hope this book is lovely and we all enjoy it.

I wish that fans can Unite more often around their favourite franchise. The world is so full of hate, it would be nice if people can just be more accepting inside of their most loved fan franchises

That sometimes happens with amazon from other countries. Some users here have gotten figures for cheaper by using Japanese amazon.

For those of you going to New York Comic Con next month on Sunday, Oct 6, there's going to be a panel on the book and Sorenson will be doing some signings. I'm not sure if that means they'll actually have some copies of the book there on sale in advance of its official November 12 release, but that would be nice. If they happened to have the deluxe edition there, that would be great, but I doubt it would be selling for the $70 it's available for online instead of the $100 MSRP. But I'll just cancel that Amazon preorder if I can get a standard edition signed there instead.

Well if they’re gonna have a signing thing then they must have copies of the book, right?

Maybe someone can ask him why the decision was made to put those awful, awful Bayformers on the covers.

Attending the NYCC panel for the book now featuring Jim Sorenson and Livio Ramondelli. Looks like the book is gonna have some great art in it. Gonna go head by Viz Media's table afterward to see if they have any unsealed copies on display. They've been selling out daily and Jim's signing stuff at 1pm.
