I cant stand games that make you rewatch cut scenes especially after dieing in a battle, over and over. I cant stand games that dont have a story plot. I cant stand it when games that are multiplayer dont have a splitscreen option as well. What bugs you about games
Hmm... DLC that should have been in the main game, bad sequels, no new IPs on consoles. (At least by MS, and to an extent Nintendo) Just to name a few.
- Region locking - Lazy manuals - Releasing complete games after releasing incomplete games that needs additional DLC - Disk-locked DLC - Games that requires online connection when the game does not need it - Focus on Multi-play over single-play - Very short campaign modes - Limited releases or Digital-only releases - Regional alterations
Pretty much all of this. But some games don't need a story. Simple puzzle and arcade games like Tetris don't need story.
I don't like dlc. It makes me want to wait possibly a year for a complete version but I won't be able to enjoy it since everyone bought the game at launch.
I don't like when DLC is on the disk but in the case of things like Skins or Fallout 4 where it's obviously extras that were worked on after the game. The other thing I dont like is when people complain about delays but then complain about bugs or incomplete games.
I dont mind dlc as long as it ads to the game like a 10 weapons 10 new types of enemies 4 new levels 10 new lvl ups for 10usd is alright especially if its a multiplayer game, its when its get this 1 over powerd homing missile launcher for 20usd that i hate because the dlc becomes a rip off.
I prefer games with a plot since I don't play multiplayer at all. I hate games that require you have an online account to play. I don't want to pay monthly for an Xbox Live...I wasted $40 on a game I can't play so it just sits on my shelf. And nowhere on the case did I see it say that it required an Xbox Live account. Which ticked me off.
-when dlc is more expensive than the game release itself (no example in mind) -when a series comes so far then it takes a turn (soul calibur 5) -when you pay for everything a game can offer, only for rumors of next gen ports to have all of it and more (mario kart 8, smash, borderlands) -when an HD remake is incredibly overpriced. (fall of cybertron.) -when the coolest things from the first version is left out of the next. (no specifics) -console and pc exclusives that shouldn't be (spiderman ps4, dead by daylight) -taking out story mode because of leakers (sakurai....) -when mechanics are confusing (no specific) -games that perma-kills characters that you worked really hard to level up (spider in MMX:CM) -when you feel completely jipped if you had gotten/will get the highest edition (db:x2 with the statue) and more to come!
1. Games that put eye candy head of gameplay and plot. 2. games whose single player mode suffers as the multiplayer aspect was made the focus. 3. games that should have had a lot more bugs fixes before they were released. 4. DLC that feels like it was stuff taken from the main game. 5. single player games that require you to be online. 6. Sequels that ruin a game series. 7. online games whose developers under estimate the number of servers needed at launch.
Games that are all story and little gameplay. The mine craft effect of gaming having settlement building or base building. Fetch quests What the metal gear franchise has become.
blah, some of my favorite games of all time had very little story. but are wonderful games. duke nukem, commander keen, sonic the hedgehog, prince of persia... and the ones that did, don't have much of a story at all.
The Ending of Mass Effect 3.... nuff said. Fetch quests has part of the main plotline (DA: Inquisition, Witcher 3). DA: Inquisition: So much possibility, so little accomplished. All the best parts of the first two games: Left out. Characters you care about: None (you didn't know already). No Warden Commander. No personalizing of Hawk (I wanted my Hawk not the generic one!) Basically forced to play a mage or you can't use the damned green fire. Gimped magic. Utterly stupid rules about healing potions AND no Healers. Forty-five minute battles. Having to run away from a damned bear at 15th level or die!
- On disc DLC - Micro-transactions - Quick Time Events - Online passes - The fact you have to pay a monthly fee for PS4's online - Backwards compatibility being phased out - Long ass installs - Random encounters - Games that focus more on graphics than gameplay and depth - Games trying to be like movies - Bad sequels or reboots that ruin a good franchise (see Soul Calibur IV and V, Thief 2014, Twisted Metal 2012, Metroid: Other M, Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter) - Forgettable or bad music - Konami circa 2010 - EA in general, especially when they kill off good western developers such as Maxis, Bullfrog, Origin Systems, or Westwood
Mainly I have been annoyed by long installs and updates. This is particularly bad with the Xbox One. I don't play it every week, but when I do want to play it, I have to really plan ahead so that it's actually ready to play. I did one of those maniacal, "I am going insane" laughs when, after what felt like years of updates, the Xbox One had to update the controller.
Sony should allow people to register multiple PS4s with their account, so sub-accounts can access all downloaded games and content on any console owned. We have two PS4s in our house. One in our living room, and one in the man cave. Since my son's account is a sub-account to mine, he can only play/access downloaded games and content I've purchased on whichever PS4 is set as my primary. We found this out when he tried to play Dark Souls 3 in the living room, but could no longer access the game because I downloaded and installed the Ashes of Ariandel DLC. Normally, he plays in the man cave, but if he wants to play in the living room, I have to first unset the man cave PS4 as my primary, set the living room PS4 as my primary, and then restore all licenses before he can access any digital content I've purchased. And vice versa. Another problem is that my saves only upload from whichever PS4 is my primary. Since my son plays primarily on the man cave PS4, that has to be set as my primary. Since I mostly play in the living room, my saves on that PS4 don't automatically upload. If a save gets corrupted or lost, I'm screwed. I have to remember to always manually upload my save after each time I play a game. It's very annoying. Sony should at least allow people to register a secondary PS4, and allow owners to choose from which PS4 a game will automatically upload saves from, regardless if it's primary or not. And it's not just with the PS4. I decided to give my Vita to my son. However, when he logs into his own account, he cannot access any of the games I downloaded. He has to remain logged in as me, which is bullshit. I get that this is probably for security reasons, but it is very frustrating for parents, especially when you own multiple consoles.
Games that advertise a co-op mode but either it's local multiplayer only or a stand alone/bare bones version of the main game. Game that don't advertise that portions are download only (see GOTY releases in particular) coupled with DLC expiration dates. Games where the DLC that breaks the game or provides an unfair advantage. EA (but that may be redundant) Customer service that has no idea how to resolve an issue and ends up locking you out of the Playstation Network for 48 hours - oh wait, I already said EA.
What's more annoying? those quick time events that's suppose to make the movie scene less annoying. Instead I found myself dying because I wasn't prepared for it and watch it all over again.
Bad ports. Some of this shit that actually gets released is astonishing. DLC that separates player bases. Games that are locked to 30fps on PC. Outta her with that crap. Multiplayer in games that should just be singeplayer. Singleplayer in games that should just be mulitplayer.
I can't stand... Compromising gameplay for story Compromising gameplay for pretentious "artistic" conceits Compromising gameplay for graphics, cinematography, or other aesthetic concerns not related to designing a good game Good games getting bashed because they don't do one of the three things listed above Pointless grinding Paying for extra lives/turns (Candy Crush) Paying more than once to unlock new levels (Candy Crush) Decent games getting bashed because they aren't enough like other good games or don't stick closely to series orthodoxy Good games getting bashed because they're not politically progressive Good games getting bashed because they are politically progressive Good consoles with lots of fun games getting bashed or ignored because they're "not powerful" or don't double as a movie player
