Making what looks like an entirely new front end/top half for the SS86 Hot Rod mold was definitely a very valiant attempt at a remold, but I’m glad we ended up with what we have now. Aside from wanting a couple of extra paint apps and maybe something a little more to pad out the Voyager price, I think she’s turned out great. Best of Velocitron Wave 1.
Well here's where the "hot rod retool" info came from in the initial leak.... Amazing that 2 exclusive toys got 100% new tooling!!! I like to imagine here's how the conversation went for the designs of Cosmos and Override: Hasbro: we think we can do a pretty good job with these two toy using existing tooling and just a few new molds. Don't think we have the budget for all new tooling so here's the best we can do... Takara: hold my beer
Also, considering how well this turned out and how much input Takara has now, there's no way that Lio Convoy will turn anything else than perfectly accurate.
I have absolutely no history with this character but this definitely will make me appreciate it more once it's apart of my collection
Not seeing the voyager value here without a packin or 2. At least HotRod was nicely engineered and included several accessories
And now we know how early in the process at least one leaker has access, but apparently no later. No, but this helps us get better context so people stop flipping their shit about certain parts of a leak before we have more info. Leakers are best for lists of names. Everything else could always be up in the air until we gave pics of stuff in hand.
