It has been shocking seeing that damage for just a trasformation and hearing that several other UW Motormaster have encountered similar things..so sorry hope that you can fix it in some way. CW Hasbro seems stronger.

Perhaps in UW has been used a plastic that just now reveals weaker than Hasbro or by a mistake some of these Motormaster were simply defective in plastic quality.

Hope that plastic in Onslaught and other UW Voyager is better and not hear these stories also from them...

There are certain plastic dye injections that seem to weaken the plastic's bonding over time, making it brittle. It's also what happens with GPS. In this case, it seems like we have a case of Transmetal Megatron. Chances are, the Hasbro version didn't use the same dye injection for their mold for the joint...or else we would be hearing something by now.

Will all copies break? No. But the chances become greater over time if this is the case.

Really, the best thing to do is, if you own a UW Menasor, go find a CW Motormaster and keep it as insurance.

Just read this thread. I would be worried if I havent transformed MM countless times and havent had any problems whatsoever...that said i guess i will keep an eye out? Seriously, not one issue yet with this UW set.

I just had the same thing happen to me. I've had a CW Motormaster for about two years, no problems. I just got a UW one, and the waist broke within a couple of weeks and a few transformations. The leg ratchets in the UW one are a LOT stiffer, and the plastic in Motormaster's chest seems softer. I guess the extra stress was enough to break it. Damage seems confined to the dark gray piece on the bottom front part of Motormaster's chest. I'll probably find another CW one I can use to replace it - anybody got an old / broken one?

Did anyone ever figure out what the issue(s) were that caused the break?

Curious, any reports of this happening on the G2 color Motormaster?

It seems to be a combination of the darker, softer plastic and the increased torque on the UW version. Hasbro versions appear to be okay.

Remember kids...TakaraTomy doesn't always mean better.

So far mine seems OK. I found a loose UW MM at a comic book shop and after several transformations he's fine... for the moment.

I transformed mine several times in the past week and it shows no sign of cracking. I think the G2 one is safe.

Any issues with the Hasbro Optimus & "Battlecore" Optimus? I have all 4 US/Hasbro releases (MM, G2 MM, and both Primes)....

Like I said, I think it's exclusive to the UW Motormaster who uses a combination of a particularly fragile plastic and tightened joints. No one has reported problems on any other version of the mold.

Best thing is if you own the UW version, just buy a Combiner Wars Motormaster. Amazon still has him for $34 shipped. $30 or a bit less on Ebay.

Must've been a bad batch. Pulled mine off the shelf and transformed him between all three modes and he's just fine.

It's unfortunate, but hopefully it's just a bad production batch, and not all of them. I would hate to be forced to settle for Hasbro's terrible deco... about as accurate to the character as CW Prime with grey feet :lol

CW Motormasters are like $20 on BBTS right now. Got one just today in case this shenanigans happens with my UW Motormaster. Both Takara and Hasbro need to stop with this swirly plastic nonsense. No one is impressed by swirly plastic!
