I'm fortunate enough to have the CW Combaticons and have this set on pre-order to make my ideal Bruticus.

UW Brawl with a headswap will be my ideal Brawl. UW Onslaught looks really good in every mode but torso mode, so I'm sticking with CW for Bruticus, though I might swap combiner heads. I'll probably sell UW Vortex and Swindle.

Blast-Off, both the draw of the set and the disappointment. I'm gonna get him (unless within the next 2 days we get a magic May Mayhem Blast-Off announcement, but I doubt it), and see if I can remove the "visor" paint and paint the real eyes purple. The brown doesn't look amazing, but it actually matches Takara's FOC Blast-Off, which is kinda neat.

Not a fan of the colors chosen. Guess I'll have to stick to Hasbro Bruticus.

Haven't you guys not seen this new upgrade set yet? I have already pre-ordered it and will pass PC-09 to Sky Reign when it comes out. Hasbro's Bruticus head is already AWESOME so I'm not going to change it but I will definitely use all the other parts.

This is one of two reasons I held off and waited for this set. Four blades will make it different enough that I won't feel that I'm looking at just a repainted Blades or Alpha Bravo while in combined mode.

The second reason is I wasn't satisfied with the CW Blast Off. So, I'll pick up the UW version and call it good.

IMO Blast Off and Slingshot should have traded places and color schemes years ago. As a kid I would have been down with a Space Shuttle Aerialbot and a Harrier VTOL Combaticon.

I am very pleased with Hasbro's Blast Off but they really screwed the pooch when they didn't bother to use a different head than Slingshot's

Thank goodness for 3P custom heads.... I am on that fellow's waiting list for a custom Blast Off head.

Does anyone else remember Bruticus's toy colors more than his toon scheme? I had the Bruticus Gift Set when I was a kid so to me, the Hasbro colors are pure nostalgia goodness!

Not me, the only Combaticon I had was Onslaught, so to me Combined Bruticus was the toon version. UW Onslaught looks enough like his toy and toon version that he nails the nostalgia bug of mine.

Same goes for UW Defensor with Hot Spot being the only one I had and while I love the all black Motormaster of the toon and UW, I already had the CW set and waiting on Wildrider before the TT set was released, couldn't justify both just for Black Motormaster and an all Yellow Dragstrip. Motormaster was the only Stunticon I had therefore the Hasbro was good enough, but I will get a second MM to paint Black.

For Computron, all I had was Afterburner and Lightspeed, and the Hasbro versions do not even come close to satisfying that nostalgia only Lightspeed in alt mode, his not mode is just Streetwise playing Lightspeed with more White than Red. And Afterburner isn't even close to toy accurate, therefore the toon version is the better one for me.

I only had a complete Superion and the differences between toy and toon were minimal, so, for me it's basically toon combiners all the way as far as Combined aesthetics and deco. Just CW Superion and Menasor weren't worlds apart from their UW sets to justify both sets, but once Defensor hit...Takara was the only way to go from him on for me.

I wish I could find someone willing to sell a matching pair of White HFGs from UW Superion since I use KFC Star Saber hands for all but Menasor and they have a White set of hands for Star Saber, just need White feet and I hate painting White. I just painted a gray pair Black for UW Defensor, and have another Gray set to be painted Silver for when UW Bruticus comes. Just need another set now for Computron...but I'll need a color match for that one.

Maaan, I cannot wait. Hasbro Bruticus is really good even with meh-Blast Off and Vortex–he's my second favourite CW combiner after Superion, actually–but this set is just fantastic looking.
Not sure whether to sell CW Bruticus now or wait until after I've got the UW set in hand.

For those that have CW Onslaught in hand, how easy do you think a chest plate swap will be? I have preordered UW Bruticus but don't want the brown chest plate. From pics it appears the chest plate has a pin joint that I don't think will be very easy to remove.

It'll be a super easy swap. The whole chest-plate assembly is attached to the body with a screw, not pinned, all you'll need is a small screwdriver.

Same here. As much as I had decided this was going to be my first UW set, the colors were just off for me. Love the CW paint scheme though I did have to add some apps of my own.

Not sure why folks are saying Blast Off colors are not room accurate. That's EXACTLY how he was portrayed in the g1 cartoon in a number of occasions. Probably not every show but that's the reason WHY he is colored that way by Tajara. (Obviously Im not saying you guys don't know.that)

However I really would've liked to see Bruticus in his silver head and.silver chest. But I can appreciate and I.do like the colors here as well.

    Yeeeaa boooey! Exactamundo! 2nd'D!

I have Star Saber boxed up & I've picked a lot of the KFC hands I can't remember but I thought it was magnus hands that just have the peg. Are you sure its Star saber hands? And remind me how they attach?.(my MPs are boxed up except Hot Rod and Ironhide right now.

I have the CW set and it totally invokes the G1 toys I had as a kid. CW Onslaught is perfect in Bot mode. Although, I do not like the missile colors on Vortex, that's an easy enough fix. The bigger issue is the 2 rotor blades instead of 4. That said, I always loved the look of the combined mode in the cartoon, especially the Brown/Purple/Black chest plate that looks like it is actually made out of parts from Blastoff. I am not sure how well that translates to the UW Bruticus chest plate yet, but I do really like both sets. I will be buying the Takara version.

The peg on one hand is like a MM larger and needs to be shaved down to fit the 5MM peg hole. I bought a set of the White Star Saber hands for Superion to see...they worked, they have a ball joint attached to a peg already so it was an easy job. So, I bought two more sets, one for Defensor and one for the coming Bruticus, just painted the Defensor hands a few days ago, have to paint the Bruticus ones, or maybe the dark gray plastic they're molded in will look good enough.

The Magnus KFC hands snap onto the existing ball joint attached to Magnus' forearms, the Star Saber hands require taking the forearms apart apparently because there's a long peg with a ball joint that's attached to the hands that has a screw hole in the ends of the pegs. One peg is like 6 or 7MM the other is exactly 5MM, so once the larger peg is shaved down and cut down like 1/8" to 1/4" (not sure which it was) then they just plus right into the CW 5MM ports for the HFGs.

The Magnus hands if used for CW figures would need a balljoint on a peg to work, the KFC ones just have the hands with the socket because Magnus' forearm already has the ball peg built in.
