Hello all, after much lurking, I've finally decided to join here, what with my FOC Onslaught LEGO mod (which I'll post within the next day or so) and my heaviest custom to date, which is Non-TF (Buzz Lightyear of Star Command). Basically, my idea was to sculpt clay onto a Barbie doll to create the Mira Nova character from the show, but so far the results have been less than stellar. The clay is cracking quite a lot (especially on the body and feet) and just doesn't seem to be sticking to the figure very well (the face I sculpted has already fallen off). I've seen some amazing customs that use clay on this site, and I was just wondering if anyone who's great with clay could give me a few pointers? Thanks!
Well I'm not great with clay, but I would have to recommend Apoxie sculpt or green stuff for things like this.
I strongly second the suggestion of using Aves Apoxie Sculpt or Fixit Sculpt. Regular clay just isn't made to carry fine detail in a small design piece. Please see the links below for some additional info: Sculpting With Apoxie Sculpt, the Two-Part Modelling Compound Aves Fixit-Sculpt Guide
goodluck ... oh and I know u have actual work 2 show, the thread title clearly suggests help.. this is not the place General Discussion might?
This is what I use Aves 2 part epoxy clay.Great stuff! Also kudos on giving scultping a shot, eventhough it didnt go your way lol...but that was only a product issue with the right stuff you will get awesome results! cheers!
