Probably bullshit, but let's find out together.

Star Wars Rebels sequel information : StarWarsLeaks
    • Release window late 2020 on Disney Plus.
    • Season 1 in post production. Season 2 well underway.
    • The story is set during the height of the short lived New Republic. We get to see the Republic Senate and explore some of the main galaxy post Return of the Jedi and before the sequels. But, I'm told only season 1 details this, and another show will truly delve into the New Republic.
    • Season 1 sets up Ahsoka and Sabine preparing to travel to the Unknown regions to find Ezra
    • Ahsoka gave a valuable relic to the Kaminoans who have set up shop again to after the Empires defeat, to stop and reverse to a certain extent captain Rex's accelerated aging. He joins Sabine and Ahsoka on their quest.
    • Season 1 also follows Ezra and Thrawn who become unlikely allies over time. We are introduced to the Chiss Ascendancy who are in the middle of a war with the Grysk. The Chiss are the main society in the series and Csilla their homeworld acts as a hub and main staging point.
    • Thrawn has a niece who is introduced as a main character. She is a ''Skywalker'', force sensitive Chiss children who are used by the Chiss as navigators through the dangerous hyperspace routes of the Unknown regions. She grows close to Ezra.
    • The Grysk are presented as a major threat and will be a main opposing force throughout the series. They don't really look like their EU counterpart the Vong. Best way to describe them is they look like ancient depictions of the emaciated Buddha on steroids.
    • The Grysk aren't the only threat there are far more sinister entities and phenomena awaiting our protagonists in the Unknown regions.
    • Main mystery surrounds the barrier of the unknown region.
    • A character who my source said will likely become a fan favourite is the last remaining member of the Rakata species, he is a powerful force sensitive warrior who was once a cruel tyrant, when the Rakata empire was at it's height. He acts as a mentor to Ezra, he's a very morally gray character. Source jokingly described him as being a redemption seeking ''Aztec amphibian god-king, with a cool Irish accent.'' A very strange and typical Star Wars cultural combination.
    • The animation style is a blend of TCW and Rebels in influence.
    • In conclusion, they are really delving into the darkness and maturity of the Star Wars universe and the occult mysteries of it's western portion.
Resistance should be ending within the next month or so.

I dig it. I'll watch it. As soon as I'm finished with actual Rebels and Resistance.

I have no idea what they are but I'm excited for you.

Also, this leak is probably fake, but let's all find out together.

Some of this sounds too wishlisty, particularly the note about reversing Rex’s aging, and the “oh we’re exploring mature and dark stuff”. I have hope we’ll eventually get the Sabine and Ahsoka show was well as a New Republic era show that properly sets the stage to make the ST landscape one we care about, just as Filoni did with TCW for the prequels, but still.

Yeah, I mostly want to see what's going on with Ahsoka, Sabine, Ezra, and Thrawn, but the rest of it sounds interesting.

I hope this is true. Though it does sound too good to be true...

I just remembered, the Grysk have appeared before, in Zahn’s new Thrawn books. They particularly made an appearance in his last one, Treason. Where they had begun making incursions into Imperial territory.

And the stories end leads directly into the finale of Rebels.

So theoretically, if this series is real, this will pick up where Zahn’s last book left off.

    I enjoy it....

The animation is fine, just the textures are different. The first season was a slow burn, but I find its been more interesting with how season 2's been going.

I think the main gripe is with the main character Kaz. He's Jar Jar levels of bad comedy and does indeed mope when no one takes him serious as a spy. Which hurts his character a lot, cause he is more than smart and competent in various scenarios.

The side characters are good though, just wish the Aces (flight team) got more development.

But this news has more to do with possibly Filoni wanting to end certain plot points unique to Rebel's finale.

So does Resistance actually show how the First Order reconquered the galaxy?

More or less, or at least for the area in the show.

It looks like for the most part, The First Order started to emerge from their location in the Outer Rim and started promenading around as a security force. They play nice. Slowly taking over and enforcing their ideals and power. However on the Resistance side, its obvious the order is keeping secrets and stocking up in ships and growing as a force. But the idea is that the first order is good at silencing planets or spies.

This goes into play why this is called the Cold War. New Republic didn't see them as a threat, didn't feel it was necessary to provoke and possibly cause a new war and were just not informed. Not listening to Leia and her Resistance cause again, they didn't want another war.

So the First Order was already creeping through the Outer Rim, and when Hosnian Prime blew and the New Republic with it, they just played their full deck.

    But that's a general description.

The show's first season itself takes place not too long before Starkiller's base activation. So The First Order and what we see is a masquerading security force, plotting behind backs, to manipulate the station (setting) into their hands. By end of season 1, you see them as what they are in Force Awakens.

y'know, I was expecting some news on Monday since it looks less and less likely that Celebration is happening, but if all we're doing is waiting, then might as well pass the time. Dave had dropped some hints at the Clone Wars fan screening that they are working on another show back in February, but aside from the unverified leak, it's all we've got to go on right now.

Star Wars Rebels is a downgrade from TCW in every way.

This video summarizes my opinion on the show:

Also, I hate the animation. Everyone's bouncy and over-acting. And they look like weak doodles of CW characters.
