Man I thought this thread was getting dull when posts were getting to the level of "I kinda like this one particular movie prime" moment. Bravo for rustling so many jimmy's and a bonus point for getting a reply that starts with a boarder line personal attack. Chefs kiss. myself? I think every Megatron is in some way the leader of a rebellion. Some times is a coup others a revolution. Really I don't care, it always devolves into a civil war but I think coups give cons a better start in regards to explaining why so many Decepticons are out the gate very powerful and fully willing to fight. Being raised from the military and from those that seek to gain from their rule you don't really need to explain why Megatron has a cannon, why so many have combat specialisations etc. Revolution origins can work I think it requires a lot of work to just lay down the ground work to establish something similar to the normal status que. I think that was one of the subtle things G1 did is the bios is that most Autobots were civil engineers or people who just had a non-combat trait who turned their skills to war while the Decepticons are normally described by a combat role. Also I want to say it was DW or maybe I'm mashing stories together in my memories but I liked the idea that Megatron went to war to defend cybertron basically built the Decepticons almost by accident from being such a good combat leader and surrounding himself with the best men for the job and after what was a successful crusade returns to cybertron and is just disappointed by what it's become and decides with his unrivalled skills in logistics, leadership, problem solving he can turn cybertron into something truly worth fighting for.... other people be damned.
