So pot meet kettle? so according to you it's ok for those that believe themselves better for accepting figures as they are and do posts that come across as belittling those that get kits.

You either missed the part where it goes from an opinion on the toys to attacking people in a passive-agressive way, or you ignore it and possibly need to stay defensive because my statement was directed toward preferences that you appears to be identifying with?

The whole "not understanding" people that buys kits is a fallacy as it's quite clear why people buy them, they don't like holes in the figures and missing accessories.. if someone doesn't mind or care to have figures with such holes and a lack of proper accessories, that's their choice but it's not even debatable to go on about "why" many do not. So as an opinion it should stand at not caring about the gaps and lack of proper accessories and not make it about those that it does annoy them. So yes, my tongue is cheek was a poke at the passive-agressive attack, but it's getting that this particular crap should just stop as I stated, every few pages it seems the same group start it again... It's a seriously dead horse.

It's tiresome to have some that keeps defending Hasbro's cutting corners while increasing prices while thinking that they know while being anything but internet "experts".

    How about moving on?

You're putting words in my mouth. All I said was it was a bit of an unnecessary and kind of mean spirited dig. You keep talking down to people who don't feel the same as you, then getting defensive when called out. I don't even fully disagree with you on the notion of rising prices vs dips in quality even if I don't agree with it being damning dips in quality. I was trying to reference that you and I have had exchanges to get our thoughts on the matter down, and that I had thought that would show I'm not just trying to "attack" you. I've not even brought up buying kits. You don't need to be that defensive, I'm not coming at you swinging, and you don't have to get this hostile towards over who are just enjoying the hobby after saying, specifically, that you feel too many people aren't letting people just enjoy the hobby.

We all have different tastes. I'm not at all trying to attack yours, I'm just saying it was an unnecessary dig to call others out unprovoked on liking the toys "that look like crap" to you.

Except in this case it's not? Jazz's head has at least three shades of yellow/orange.

I feel like the original direction was the G1-ification of characters from multiple different series, which while divisive was at least a potentially interesting idea.

Of course people on the internet kicked up a fuss, because it’s apparently essential that new toys look exactly like old toys they already own. As a result the entire point of the line was mostly abandoned, leaving it feeling like a directionless hodge-podge of characters.

Would I have liked all the G1-ified designs? Almost certainly not. But they’d have been something new. And I’d rather be offered something new that I dislike than something I love but have already seen before. If I don’t like it I just don’t buy it.

It wasn't that people disliked that they did some G1-ifications. It's that they made very poor representations of those characters in general, while labeling them as very much not G1 versions of those characters, but instead that ones from their respective universes. Bulkhead wasn't disliked for being a G1 Bulkhead, he was disliked for being a design with zero call back to the character it's intended to be beyond the headsculpt and color choice. People didn't want it to just be the old toy, but also Bulkhead's toys are over a decade old. Given the very idea of Legacy is a multi-dimensional crossover, having Bulkhead and Knock Out look so against their source material soured many to the idea of updates, but Skyquake and Animated Prowl have won many back in seeing these criticisms are being handled.

I don't personally think Legacy feels disjointed, but I feel like it had a lousy first impression. I think it could definitely be nice to have more thematic wave distributions, though, which could help drum up more excitement across the board, too if people could have clear ideas of what Eras a wave might lean towards more. I think I'd like to see less G1 slots right now to better get across the idea of pulling from everywhere, though.

That can be barely told apart from one another. Couldn’t they have given him a red face or visor to make his head look better?

You really need to feel that you're "right" don't you?

Can't you just let it go and move on already?

At least two, but my eyesight isn't what it used to be and even then it wasn't worth a damn.

My problem with this line of thought is the timeline of toys doesn't add up. It takes about 2 years to get a figure to shelves, so they can't quite react quickly to feedback. Which means when Bulkhead and Arcee were revealed, things like the accurate Starscream and likely Hot Shot were too far in development to change. So I find it rather puzzling as to why they were picking and choosing who gets to keep what stylizations.

As for new designs, typically I would agree though I'll throw my not-so-unpopular opinion in the ring and say my problem with Legacy Bulkhead wasn't that it was new, I just thought it was a poor Bulkhead.

I think part of the problem is the whole story structure—or rather lack thereof. If I recall in the beginning it was hinted that the 3yr run was going to be a bit like Transformers: Secret Wars where all generations were taken from their timelines, merged together in the G1 world, and forced to fight or coexist by some super-powerful entity (who presumably would be revealed in year 3).

However it feels like this overarching story has been dropped and as a result it just becomes a random hodgepodge of characters with little to no explanation of why one is there, why one looks G1-ified and another doesn’t, or if there is even any rhyme or reason to the whole thing.

It is just hard to tell if the story has been dropped as there is nothing telling the story. No TV/web series for Legacy unlike War for Cybertron and Prime Wars. No comic series at all to tie in with it since IDW lost the license and there has yet to be a new comic license holder announced so there likely won't be one before Legacy ends. There isn't even a line description such as what the Golden Disk exclusive subline had to tie everything together. The only thing I have noticed that ties in the character roster is that a lot of characters in Legacy were also in T30.

I love the jutting out kibble on Armada Starscream's back and Supermode Optimus' long back skirt and are a distinct part of their silhouette/aesthetic. Glad there is the options for those who don't like it but personally find folding it down (T30/Legacy Screamer) or spliting it (Naval Commander) makes it look "wrong".

If it doesn't actively damage your eyesight, is it REALLY G2?

i have to agree to an extent. i feel like year 1 of legacy was a very shaky start, probably due to the slight shift in aesthetics for some of the characters and other issues with the line. evo seems to be off to a much better start, though the distribution is actively worse than year 1 could have ever been.

I do not like weapons that form part of a transformers alt mode. If they lose said weapon, what then? Can they no longer transform? Or is their disguise simply ruined, and they now need to scan a new alt mode

Depends on the continuity, no? Movieverse would scan a new mode and everything would be back in place and shiny and new; Sunbow wouldn’t lose anything because of animation errors, sub space pockets, and general morphing.

I suppose you are correct. Although it would still be less efficient to scan a new alt mode. A bot could also end up with nothing to scan.
