Legacy Bulkhead's design is garbage, it might as well be a Grapple retool.

I hate it, too. It's not Bulkhead! He's not roly-poly!

 

While I understand the dislike of Legacy Bulkhead I’m happy with it. Tbh if we got a Prime Bulkhead accurate update before Animated Bulkhead I’d’ve been a bit peeved, myself. Love the nee design.

 

It does remind me of United Grapple in its general design.

 

This why I was happy with Rook's addition to the Protectobots for CW and Groove in Legend size. I had no interest in Deluxe Groove, but am OK with Deluxe Wreck-Gar because of his origin. I also prefer jet Blast Off (renamed Take Off) with the Combaticons for scale and vehicle type, Shuttle Blast Off is instead part of Galvatronus.

 

I'm happy with bulkhead.

 

That could be cool but they'd be terribly inaccurate. The Commandos were nigh 1:1 to the toys and were shown to do the scramble city thing, whereas MMC Assualtus is a more Sunbow accurate offering with no scramble city.

 

The toy version of their combined mode would be near 1:1 with Ruination.

 

I suppose yeah, but no Land Mission Mode so it isnt without compromise

 

Yeah well if you want an MP scaled Ruination to be able to have limb bots be arms and legs...

Gonna cost you 3 pretty pennies rather than 1.
Especially considering how simple the originals were in comparison.

 

Honestly? I disagree. It's RiD, they were fairly close to the toys in terms of design and transformations so blowing up the G1 toys, tweaking the odd proportion every now and again (like swindle's shoulders not being halfway down his torso) and I think you can get away with it.

 

They're just too compromised. Maybe they need to go bigger, as in a missile launcher instead of a handheld gun. Somewhere in between the current size and Cog/Sixgun.

They need to explore other kinds of weapons, not just ones with barrells.

Much easier to have consistent scale when the show itself uses CG models for the Transformers.

 

I think they need to design the robot around the gun. Make a good weapon that transforms into something rather than make a dude stand at attention and get waved around. They can do a good rifle or pistol, but they need to sacrifice some proportions in the robot, or hell, go all out on wacky designs like the Mini-Cons from Armada

 

I really don't get the bulkhead hate. Yeah it's weird that they're calling him prime bulkhead even though he obviously isn't (desing wise), but the desing itself is pretty good as a g1 interpretation of the character imo.

 

It's because he's advertised as Prime Bulkhead in a new Generations reboot where everything as been pretty accurate so far. It would be like ER Prime coming out at the end of ER but as an Energon repaint.

Plus we saw a G1 version of Bulkhead at the end of the Wreckers in IDW that looked much better, and Animated Bulkhead would have fitted in perfectly fine.

 

Yeah I get that people are mad that it doesn't look anything like prime bulkhead, I just don't get why people think he looks awful tough. Is it just the chest proportions, or am I just missing the big picture?

 

The overall proportions, the overly round head on the cub body, him more looking like Grapple, and the hollow chest.

 

He looks like a cheap Grapple retool, that's my problem with him. If that's how they were going to design him, he would've been better off as an actual Grapple retool so he wouldn't be wasting a voyager new mold slot.

 

I wasn't suggesting they'd be accurate, but I don't think anyone is going to invest in developing toy-accurate MP Commandos. I personally prefer the RID cartoon models by a huge margin (as you say, they look much more like the original toys), but I'd still enjoy seeing a modern MP-like set in the Ruination deco, and the MMC figures are pretty nice.

For real though, yeah, MMC's would probably be the best option for that currently. The engineering is the nicest of the bunch, hoping to get my hands on it one day
